cornerofmadness: (everythings fine)
but just barely. Here's why
1. got off late because I had to wait for the EZ pass turnpike people to open up and I'm glad I did because there was some issue on their end and it would never have activated in spite of me activating it online

2. I get less than 20 miles away (right to my casino) and the damn tire pressure sensor comes on. I get out thinking omg why? I filled these before I left and checked to make sure the tires were okay. If nothing else, they were actually slightly overinflated. Called dad, talked it over. Neither of us have heard of the TPS coming on for overinflation but since the tires are hot now I pass on taking off that 2 pounds over which shouldn't be a problem. The TPS has not gone off yet AND mom's phone is freaking out because it keeps telling me their home number is a wireless caller you can't reach. Dudes it's a landline.

3. A little tension because the last time I drove on the PA turnpike was years and years ago (I did go on it on 19 but my brother was driving. I didn't realize there are now SO MANY toll roads now) Luckily I knew what city I wanted to go to before jumping on the turnpike otherwise god knows where I would have gone. My GPS was mad because I did go to the turnpike in the first place. It's like 2 miles longer but for me it's better because it has rest stops every 40 miles.

4. all the tunnels on the turnpike east are closed so we have to be funneled into the west bound tunnels so that slowed you down

5. 81-N in PA was a fucking nightmare of stop and go traffic

6. I FINALLY get to 84 -E (in spite of half a dozen attempts to kill me by various drivers my italian horn/manu cornuto got a work out) and there is so much construction.

7. By the time I should have been at the hotel in CT I just crossed from PA to NY. Call my parents so they don't think I died.

8. Now I'm wishing I were on the turnpike because there are next to no fast food places for dinner and it's nearly 8 pm when everything is closing. I roll into Fishkill where I used to live 28 years ago. First time back since then. The Hudson Valley is still beautiful and I sort of wish I lived there still. However the only damn fast food around is McDonald's. I loathe McDonald's. The chicken sandwich was at least edible.

9. I make it into CT and 84-E is bumper to bumper traffic thanks to accidents and construction. At 8 fucking thirty at night. WHERE are all these people going this late at night. Now it's dark.

10. I finally get to the hotel and my 7 1/2-8 hr trip was 11 1/2 hours long and the clerk informs me someone took the luggage carts early in the morning and never brought them back Perfect but they did give me a cookie and a water bottle. And none of the stations match what the station says it is on the tv. omg

11. at least I'm alive. Now to figure out where to first in Mystic and thank god I rethought just driving there it would be another 1 1/2 past this. I'd be pulling in at midnight. I listened to Norse Gods by Neil Gaiman on the way here, very nice. These stories are meant to be oral tales and Neil reads very well. Best news I didn't have much pain anywhere.

OMFG now at 11pm there's some guy walking the hall knocking on all the doors looking for someone to let him borrow a phone charger. Go talk to the downstairs people, they might. This is a good way to get the police called on you. I think me snarling thru the door scared the hell out of him.
