Writerly Ways
Sep. 23rd, 2018 02:47 pmOnce again I find myself without much time or ideas for a writerly way but since Nano is only 5 weeks away, let's talk continuity issues. Outside of outlining your brains out, how do YOU keep continuity flowing in your work.
Unless you're a stranger to my blog (and if so, welcome) you know I struggle with this, probably because a) I'm a pantser b) I work on multiple projects and c) I put stuff aside for periods of time. So naturally continuity issues creep in. I used to be able to memorize huge lists of material. That part of my brain died in medical school. Also as I age the ADHD becomes worse so now I'm Dory the freaking fish.
One way I can keep things in my head or at least where I can find it, is a character sheet. You know those things some on this list used to use back in our Elfquest fandom days. It won't help me from forgetting Dawn wasn't mind erased by Angel's spell (and therefore having to go back and fix all the scenes where she was) but I can at least remember all the tattoos this version of Connor has. Because I will forget. Hell I didn't EVER say what Aaron lost in Kept Tears and didn't even know it until the cover artist wanted to know. OMFG! So that said I should start making out my nano characters here in October. ESPECIALLY since one character all I have is a name and no clue how she fits in.
My only other tool is to scribble notes because I'm not an outliner. For me it kills the creativity somehow. Everything I've ever outlined has failed to finish. But that said I should at least scrawl some plot points down.
Now on to the vast amount of links I have.

Date: 2018-09-25 08:00 pm (UTC)I NEED to do this for nano this year because since I have like a notion of what's going to happen because all they'll tell me about it a stupid assed subplot that's not that important (thanks you jerks)
