rough night and a dream

I did something amazingly idiotic last night. I went to take my migraine meds but for reasons I can't fathom I opened the pill box and took my morning dose for saturday, less than two hours after taking my evening dose. That meant I had double the diabetic meds in me.

I realized my mistake in the span of time it takes to get from the bathroom to my geek-out room. Went back and calmy made myself through up. Let me tell you those pills dissolve FAST. Spent most of the night taking in enough food to keep ahead of the crash then started feeling weird even though the sugar was climbing. That's when I remembered duh, double dose of the blood pressure pill (it's very low dose so it wasn't too worrisome, but i have naturally low blood pressure, I take that pill only because my PCOS will make me bald otherwise)

It was a very rough and scary night. the real reason I didn't go to the ER was, really didn't want 'accidental overdose' in my record. I knew how to treat it (gatorade mostly, enough sugar in there to keep from crashing and enough electrolytes to raise the blood pressure)

Though I did sleep. And I did dream.

I was at [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog's house only it wasn't the one she has now nor the one she had in FL. It was still her typical, an old two-story needing interior decorating help. I was going upstairs to my bedroom when I saw one of her schnausers in the corner where the steps took a bend. I knew the dog's name though it wasn't Dodger even though it looked just like her (which is odd because Dodger was not a good representation of the breed in her later years) But the odd thing was that this dog was trying to shield Callie's ghost from me as if it could since Callie was tall and had mule ears. I went back downstairs to tell ELD I saw Callie's ghost and she wouldn't believe me.

I'm so glad you're fine because that could have been not good at all.

yeah nothing like doing something potentially fatal. Go me

Reminds me of the night my mom called after she realized she had grabbed the wrong bottle of insulin and instead of her Lantis she had used her R(fast acting) insulin. She was already eating large quantities of sugary foods. I called poison control and the man there advised her to eat lots of peanut butter. He called her through the night and then touched back with me early in the morning. The guy was amazing and did not try to just foist us onto the emergency room. He did himself call the local hospital and spoke to them in case she got worse.

scary as hell too. I polished off my peanut butter last night. I have to get more tomorrow.

and kudos to that poison control guy. that was wonderful of him

Holy shit! Glad that you're ok. I worry about you sometimes. Good thing you have a medical degree.

I have the low blood pressure thing, too. I thought fat people were supposed to have high BP. Weird. I'm always cold... especially my extremities. :S

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
you sound almost hypothyroid.(or subhypo or somethign that some doctors are trying to push thinking we ought to treat MORE poeple or adjust the values since they have all the signs)

[identity profile] rain-oubliette.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
My dad's side of the family has thyroid issues. Not enough iodine in the ground, I suppose. Several of his siblings have bug-eyes (as he did before he began taking meds). I've had my thyroid levels checked and they're ok.

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
that's hyperthyriod.

my family has them too. i'm on the very cusp of normal so they won't treat

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
...I would've believed you, seeing Callie's ghost!

And of course the steps take a bend in my house; they always take bends.

You seemed so calm last night when you were online with me and saying, "Well, had to force myself to throw up...."

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
oh exactly it was the sort of house you'd own

well i'm trained to remain calm in emergencies

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
The kind where anything bigger than a twin bed just isn't going up the staircase, right? *laughs*

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think they even tried to take the beds up the stairs in this place, they went through the upstairs window.

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
no doubt

[identity profile] wildrider.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yikes! I'm so glad you're a doctor and knew how to treat that!!!

Hope you're feeling better today!
