Today was round 1 against the cheaters. I took our dept admin assistant with me and I said 'we're following the syllabus' and ALL items but a pen/pencil will be up here in the front with me and I want to see those phone before you put them in the book bag. (that's why I needed help watching them).

The looks of panic and fury were flying fast. They were pissed and scared because you knew some of them didn't study. They planned to cheat. The one I knew had been cheating tried to sneak her phone back. I made her put it down. She didn't even score 50% but of course not, I haven't seen her in a month since the last test.

Rolling my eyes hard at Amazon. I bought some socks which were vacuum packed so they could be put in a padded envelope to save on packing and environmental costs (which are high in online shopping) and what did Amazon do? Shove it in a big ass box with tons of paper waste.

Here's a few things for fannish 50

Masters of the Universe This looks kind of amazing even though I don't like live action versions of animation and let's face it, He-Man wasn't long on plot. that said this guy looks like he was born to play He-Man

as for the rest of fannish 50 have the remaining four meta pieces I did for marchmetamatterschallenge That way they're here if somehow they're taken down at AO3. It's 75 degrees. I went to my first book club meeting at the new bookstore (run by one of my former students) where I got them interested in my book, These Haunted Hills and it was a fun book club where we only had to read 'a green book' and talk about it. Next month is an assigned book. To be honest I don't really go to book groups because I rarely like the genres we read. We'll see how this goes. I did find out a major mystery writer I like will be there in May. Yay.

And I really really need to read the specs on fan merch I buy. I always don't do that and I always get surprised often in a bad way (like my itty bitty husk/angel things) However this time the surprise is in a good way. I got the Valentine's day cards for Hazbin because I liked the art. I thought I was getting a few art cards. I got a damn box of stationary. Wow.

And holy hell episode 8 of The Amazing Digital Circus dropped tonight. It was amazing. It's up there in second place for me. I'll have to watch it again and I'll have more thoughts about it later.

Today also saw the passing of Chuck Norris and Nicholas Brendan who played Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In watching Buffy recently I realize I dislike Xander even more now than I did back then. That said, I am sorry that Nicholas passed so relatively young.

And I got some writing done plus I have a new open call for you this weekend, another one with big name anchors and pro pay about were creatures. I was spitballing ideas with evil little dog tonight. We'll see what happens.

I went back to Prodigal Son this week for my story

Title: Numb Little Bug

Summary: In the aftermath of what happened in the woods, Malcolm is recovering somewhere far from the green growing things that might remind him of that day. But all he really wants is to come home.

Rating: teen

Notes:Written for the allbingo prompt of drawing and for spikesgirl58’s 6 word challenge.
Since today was boring and no one would care about it (me included) so let's have another writing question.

Do you have something about your characters that you love and think about it, even though you know it might not be in the story? Tell us all about it. I want to hear it. Original characters or your favorite fandom characters.

Here's mine for my new characters Ezio and Remo (Remo might have a name change). They dance together. A lot of my characters dance. I might mention they're dancing but I don't do a lot of writing about it because it's not all that interesting to read. But it also has me thinking about what kind of music would these people have.

Yes it's a 1920s era tech level but that doesn't mean necessarily that the music is the same. that said I love the fast step, jive, boogie woogie styles and if by some miracle this novel ends up a movie...well then.

Anyhow I stumbled over this British version of Dancing With the Stars (kinda sorta, at least they allow gay partners) and thought these two would be exactly how Ezio and Remo learn to dance with each other (in book two, ha!) These are three of my favorites.

My favorite. I'm beginning to think I'm a reborn flapper because damn men in suspenders dancing does something for me

And while not my favorite tango I liked this one because Ezio is genderfluid and just as likely to be in a dress as a suit. Also Layton does a fucking backflip in heels and I am jealous

In theory I'm doing the marchmetamatterschallenge but I have done nothing until now.
What is Going On in the Boom! Buffyverse?

In full disclosure, I have never been a big fan of Boom!’s updated Buffy and Angel. I collected far more of the issues than intended, mostly because of inertia, nostalgia and being short of reading time and suddenly I have nine months’ worth of books to wade through and finding I didn’t like it when I finally managed to read. Then they started pulling the same thing that made me quit the Marvel X books back in the day: started spinning off multiple side comics, Angel & Spike, Giles, Willow etc. and if you wanted the whole story without gaps you needed to get them all.

Finally, I put a moratorium on the books as far as my pull list was concerned but they still put the new ones in there either because they’re not paying attention or hoping I’ll feel guilty and buy them anyhow, especially in the light of the fact my comic book store is far enough away I only get there every few months. Regardless that’s how I ended up with Boom!’s two newest Buffyverse offerings: Buffy the Last Vampire Slayer and Angel.

This is less a review and more of a dissection of these two books so expect spoilers because really they’re the reason I’m writing this. I only received one of the Buffy and three episodes of Angel (and I wish it had been the other way around). ( spoilers from here on out )

comments

A Prodigal Son article came out today (you can read it here.) that speculates on the beginning of S2 and had me and my friends on twitter chattering all afternoon.

If you don’t want to read the article, it basically takes something Tom Payne said and blew it up into speculation that Malcolm and Ainsley will hide the murder of Nicholas Endicott. In many ways I think that would turn this into a one and done for me. Let me explain why and to indulge in my own S2 speculation.
So why wouldn’t hiding the body work for me (besides the fact Malcolm should be smarter than that)?( under here because it got long )

That’s plenty of drama right there.
And oh ( photos under here )

ETA - if you came here from my twitter I think you can reply with open ID if you don't have a DW (which I'm betting a lot of you don't) or you can always DM me if you want on twitter.

comments

With my luck once I get all this moved from online to paper stuff done, the student will say hey we have internet now. I have no idea how much work this will really be but I'm hoping it's done tomorrow.

I think it's insane it was 80 here today. My apartment is an oven. I refuse to turn on the a/c in March. THe peepers are so singing right now. All kinds of frog sex a'happening tonight.

Since I have nothing else to talk about (other than OMG why am I sweating) I've been meaning to do this Monday. Where in I talk about Eve and this week's Prodigal Son ( still cutting it for spoilers just in case )

comments

Mostly because I had to spend the entire evening grading and I still have another class yet to go but it's nearly 10:30pm and I am DONE. I didn't sleep well last night either, no reason. Just wasn't tired which was annoying.

I feel like a jerk because I had to put off the head of the Madog Society about my research presentation. It can not be in a few weeks. Sorry. I have no idea how I'm going to get to this. I just don't know.

I hate to say it, I'm kinda glad the MacGyver reboot is back but only because I like looking at Lucas Till (and I don't normally go for blonds)

So after much thought I'm still very unhappy with the last third of last night's Prodigal Son and here's why.( spoilers )

comments
