Good news, Bad news

Good news - my cornea is not ulcerated
Bad news - my eyeballs are badly swollen probably from long-term allergies. Steriod eye drops for me (actually I feel better after just one dose!)

Good news - speaking of allergies, I think I finally found what was bugging me in the bedroom

Bad news - one of the windows (the one I rarely open since it looks right into the neighbors) was so mildewy and algae ridden it looked like a swamp (I'm allergic to mildew). I had to clean that with gloves and a mask (conversation from last week, mom: are you wearing your mask to clean. You sound bad. Me: I have my mask Mom: Are you WEARING it? Me: um no but I have it. Mom:....)

Good news - I scrubbed the tub, CLR'ed the stuck plunger that goes from shower to tub and the shower head, draino'ed the drain

Bad news - plunger not much better, draino failed and I got the CLR on my hand. Flush for FIFTEEN minutes. WTF is this stuff? (needs to go look)

Good news - I went out to look at that house and the realtor called me back

Bad news - the house isn't quite as nice in person and the realtor is making this too real for me. God I wished I liked it here better.

So, that house:

Photobucket Here it is face on. It's NOT that bad. It's in fairly good shape. Those pretty 'windows' turn out not to be windows but part of the porch. Huh. [livejournal.com profile] 0_mother_0 is right it's a tad close to the main high way.

Photobucket The house to the left. not bad spacing.

Photobucket the house to the right, still not bad space.

Photobucket the house across the street. um...ew. this can't be good.

and directly out what would be my bedroom window. HEY the same fucking view I have out my bedroom window now. Oh right, I wasn't wrong about it not being good. A derlict house (I think...there were signs it might be inhabited) Photobucket

Here's what wiki says about the town. and here's another site about the same thing but with pictures . Basically Hamden as of 2010 has 879 souls, 6 Hispanic, 1 Native American, 1 Asian, 4 African American and the rest is whiter than sour cream. Diversity your name is NOT South East OH.

I found an all brick house, old, about a mile closer to the high way. Sadly it's for sale by owner which I really do not want to deal with but it's a cool house. It's real close to Lackey's PDQ (about the only place to buy things) and the bait and tackle shop (the only other thing that seemed NOT to be a vacant storefront) and less than a mile from Lake Alma (hence the bait shop).

and apropos of my rage the pastor from NC, who wants to round up and kill homosexuals, shouldn't be allowed to speak for God or humanity ever again.

ETA - snagged from Masq. I'm not really surprised by this at all.
Which philosopher are you?
Your Result: Aristotle

Truth does not exist in some transcendent realm. We get to truth by applying reason to the physical world. The world follows logic and commonsense. Science if done properly is not to far from philosophy.

For sale by owner can work, I mean, look, that's how I got the Lodge.

CLR is primarily white vinegar, which actually gets most of the same results (and is a lot cheaper).

I need to pull up my big girl panties and clean this pigsty I'm living in. Perhaps I could use you as inspiration.

So glad your eyes are treatable with drops. Hope your contacts are comfy soon.
I've been using the anti-histamine eye drops myself. Sadly, I can't wear contacts with my prescription.

I hate cleaning. Nuff said.

Ooh, I like the house... Though yeah, not great across the way. Use it to hammer down the price?
We want to move but just the thought of getting our place ready to sell wipes me out and then some.
Good luck to you!

I like that house. I wouldnt be so worried about the derelict. It may be bounded up and abandoned, but It's an architectural treasure trove for deconstruction.  buy the house and encourage the city to have us deconstruct that old house in your view.

I don't know what's in CLR.  I would recommend using white vinegar instead.  It's more effective and not a freaking biohazard.  I don't even want to think what is going down our drains with some of these chemicals. vinegar will even eat lime plaque out of the toilet. Pour it in before you leave for work and just let it soak all day.

Well, I guess it's not a horrible place ... I guess the first thing I'd check for is mold.

Me: I have my mask Mom: Are you WEARING it? Me: um no but I have it. Mom:....)

Mmmmm, kinda like a guy keeping the condom in his wallet? ;-)

I still like the looks of that house although, yeah, the derelict house in the back is not attractive. But it could be a conversation piece. And for myself, I don't care about the racial makeup of where I live just as long as everyone leaves me the hell alone. LOL
