rough night and a dream

I did something amazingly idiotic last night. I went to take my migraine meds but for reasons I can't fathom I opened the pill box and took my morning dose for saturday, less than two hours after taking my evening dose. That meant I had double the diabetic meds in me.

I realized my mistake in the span of time it takes to get from the bathroom to my geek-out room. Went back and calmy made myself through up. Let me tell you those pills dissolve FAST. Spent most of the night taking in enough food to keep ahead of the crash then started feeling weird even though the sugar was climbing. That's when I remembered duh, double dose of the blood pressure pill (it's very low dose so it wasn't too worrisome, but i have naturally low blood pressure, I take that pill only because my PCOS will make me bald otherwise)

It was a very rough and scary night. the real reason I didn't go to the ER was, really didn't want 'accidental overdose' in my record. I knew how to treat it (gatorade mostly, enough sugar in there to keep from crashing and enough electrolytes to raise the blood pressure)

Though I did sleep. And I did dream.

I was at [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog's house only it wasn't the one she has now nor the one she had in FL. It was still her typical, an old two-story needing interior decorating help. I was going upstairs to my bedroom when I saw one of her schnausers in the corner where the steps took a bend. I knew the dog's name though it wasn't Dodger even though it looked just like her (which is odd because Dodger was not a good representation of the breed in her later years) But the odd thing was that this dog was trying to shield Callie's ghost from me as if it could since Callie was tall and had mule ears. I went back downstairs to tell ELD I saw Callie's ghost and she wouldn't believe me.

Celtic Festival

So the Vinton county library in McArthur was having a Celtic festival. They advertized in my electrical co-op's newsletter for two months. The ads have been on the radio for weeks so I blew off laundry and went. I wanted to go to the callnig of the clans last night but I had other plans. Tomorrow is the Welsh church service which could have been interesting. BUt they were supposed to have two interesting speakers and crafts and someone doing woad/henna so I saddled up and went.

Somewhere north of Wellston I went through a time warp and came out in 1930, the churchs got scarier as I went. I'm pretty sure there were snakehandlers. Finally I find "Friendly McArthur" proudly named after the General (so I DO wonder what it was called before that since these houses/buildings were way way too old for that). I scoot past a scary hotel (pictures will come on monday since my dial up can't upload them)

I find the library (hard to miss) and park...and see THREE tents. OMG all this advertising for three freaking tents and one was some poor sot with a cooler handing out drinks (okay that one didn't HAVE a tent), the quilt raffle/learn knotwork people, some lady with goat milk soap and the henna lady. I buy soap. I get in line for the henna and I'm there TWO hours. It was okay though. It felt good to just sit in the sun and bullshit with people. It's the small town thing where everyone knows everyone else but they talked to me anyhow.

Sadly the woad wasn't working right (she thought she might have a bad batch). And unfortunately they were doing the witches scene from MacBeth at the 'music' part of the festival (um...ok) and the director brought them all down to be done up in the tempuh? It's the stuff they use to put tatts on actors in Hollywoood. Anyhow that's what took so freaking long. Still, like i said, sitting talking and working on the novel, it was nice to decompress. The artist was fun. She's in Athens so I got her card to set up private sessions later.

One of the ladies, a high school teacher (and in the play getting extensive work) is wearing a shirt reading Appalachian Paranormal. I naturally ask about it and say I used to do that sort of work with a group. SHe gives me this HUGELY wary look and tries to end the conversation with we're professionals and a small group. I nod and say that's still interesting and ask about her cases. SHe says 'we all have jobs so only do like three a year, two socialists, her and physics prof at OU' (which I might look into that now) and my thought was if you do NOT want to talk about this why in the name of god are you wearing a shirt advertizing it.

She was doing whole hand cascades of shamrocks for most of the girls which were very cute but I'm not a shamrock girl. She looked relieved when I asked for a traditional Indian lotus instead. And since I waited so long she only charged me 5$. Tattooed hand, I headed into thelibrary to listen to this speaker who had published several novels and nonfiction...and he wasn't there. Some lady was talking. Sigh. There was no way I was waiting for three more hours for the music so I checked out the library's manga section to see if there was something I'd want on ILL. Um they had one shelf of graphic novels period. Pathetic. Hell, I want to know how this tiny town rates a two story library when Jackson which is MUCH bigger has a tiny library.

There was one absolutely CUTE cottage, Black Forest style down one block from the library which I would never have seen if I hadn't wanted to circle around to see this grey monster of a house across from the library that had a sign out front. I mean it was peeling, the porch sagging and the roof rotting and I'm like someone has a business in that. Anyhow, the cottage was so cute that I looked at its slightly less cute neighbor in the same vein which was for sale and thought if there was a way to the highway that was faster I'd consider it (one of the chemists lives in that town). Anyhow the falling down house (couldn't get an angle to take a pic) was a lawyer's place of business. Sorry but NO. No way. If this lawyer is letting that place in this condition I just don't trust him/her.

I came home to meet the new neighbors, a young couple and all their very ill behaved dogs. Scowls. Kyo for some reason stayed in all day and snuggled with me when I was home. One problem I forsee. I was wearing shorts today and he likes to rub and tickle with his tail. Problem...his fur is very soft and sensual and that feels just so wrong.

and hmmm she must be using some high quality henna. this stuff has been on 6 hours and hasn't even begun to peel so hopefully this tatt will last good and long
