a mega drabble and some live action anime casting

First off there's this casting call for Cowboy Bebop

Honestly, I think it's bad casting. Then again, I didn't really like the show that much so I don't really care all that much (seriously, I thought the show was good but I couldn't get into it. What I DO like about it, it seemed to be the spark to reopen the way for anime in a way we haven't seen since Robotech in the 80's)

All her friends tell her its time to move on, to find someone reliable and more importantly, never leaves home. No one in Resembool understood her and Edward’s relationship. Many days neither did she. Ed could be so weird and yet the thought of him completely out of her life frightened her.

The only one who moved on was her. Winry didn’t know if she would make Rush Valley her home, bland, hot and dry, especially after lush Resembool and yet was unsure if she would ever go home again permanently. She dreamed that one day she and Ed would find their own place.

Until then, she tried not to let him make her nuts, easier said than done. Mr. Garfiel was a sympathetic ear when she vented after one of his calls or Al’s letters. At least he never tells her to move on. Instead, he tut tuts about the course of true love never running smoothly and promises he’d ‘fix that boy’s wagon’ if he made Winry crazy any more. The thought of Garfiel in his best dress chasing Ed through Rush Valley with metal snips allowed Winry to chuckle herself through her few dark moments.

Winry was a patient young lady. In her heart she knew one day she would move on at Edward’s side.

Asking Keanu Reeves to play anything but a fence post is bad casting...

I, on the other hand, really loved Cowboy BeBop, so I'm as put out now as the Constantine fans were...

*sigh*

(I'm still trying to avoid seeing him in The Day The Earth Stood Still, another casting fiasco...)

I like the drabble. The mental image of Garfiel really adds something to it.

Also, Keanu as Spike... I could see him be Spike in the episode where the entire crew gets stoned on 'shrooms.

You're right about not being able to get into Bebop. There's just something about it. I really tried, but nothing ever sparked, and the ending--well, finally meeting Julia the Cardboard Cliche killed it for me. She was so much better as a concept than as a character. I've watched the "Descendants of Darkness" set you sent me more times than I have my complete set of Bebop, and given what a mess "Darkness" was, that's no compliment to Bebop.
