i hate cleaning

I'm not just allergic to dust and mold but to cleaning solutions as well. Even with the organic wimpy shit I use (at least it doesn't give me asthma attacks like 409 and fantastik) my skin looks like an alligator. I got the tub scrubbed. I got my hand washables scrubbed. Found out why my stove top was so fucked up. The burner pan rusted out and sank every time I put a pot on it. Gah. Got to go buy one.

I made an appt with a realtor on friday. Mom is coming next week to go with me to see homes. Frankly I'm shocked the whole family isn't coming. Dad wants to check 'man stuff' like septics, electricity and foundations. Mom wants to decorate the whole place. My aunt wants to landscape it. I could sit back and do nothing really. I have informed her, that so far I don't really like anything I've seen and if I don't like the place i might as well rent.

I sent Bean Ed off to be fixed, poor little netbook.

Okay can I bounce some ideas off you all? I know I shouldn't even think about it. I'm considering two open calls with different publishers (always good not to have all your eggs in one basket). One I have some time to write, for Storm Moon Press's 'sacrifice' open called, fantasy anthology, lesbian. Could be interesting. I've not really written lesbian fiction before so it could be a challenge provided I can stay interested in it.

The other came across my author's list today, an anthology about the olympics (with contemporary and paranormal possibilities) But the annoying thing (and the reason I'm not posting this on my other journal, as she's a friend there) is that it's got a one month deadline (another publishing house does that too). I would love to write something for it but the word count is 5-10K with a preference going to the longer counts. Hmm.

I DID write a story just like this once before. I think it was published in an APA but i can't find the story and I think it's so old I wrote it on a word processor. The character was in the Pankration. I was thinking of doing the same thing here.
Or pick another game maybe like the penthalon or a horse related one.

I wanted the lover to be a god, not Zeus (I think he's the patron of the villian of the piece), maybe Hades (or Posiedon if I go with the horses) or maybe some minor god like one of the Oneiroi, like Morpheus. Thoughts? I'd love opinions.

Speaking of writing, one of my characters is sending me spam. I.e. they must monitor this journal which is the only place that very unusual name has ever been.

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

Horses. Horses. Yeah. Go with horses.

What happened to Bean Ed? Did I miss something?

'Sacrifice'. *considers*

i'll probably go with pankration since i know mor about it than charoit racing.

Bean Ed has had a virus since before Christmas and it's too expensive to fix but one of the people who worked for the college is doing this on the side for half of what the other places want (I mean 70$ just to look at it. The damn thing costs around 250 by the time they fixed it i coudl buy a new one)

it could be very interesting (it is erotica obviously)

Pankration. :D

Ah, I remember something about this. I'm sorry you're sick, Bean Ed.

Hmm. Erotica.

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm not so sure chariot races would excite the guy (well if it's poseidon...)

still need to pick a god

hopefully bean ed can be fixed

yep erotica

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2012-05-24 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Poseidon might like that. :D

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2012-05-25 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Considering it, nope probably am not interested in learning enough about chariot racing to write this at least not in the three weeks i'll have to write it.

need to think of other god

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2012-05-25 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
you never studied greek gods?

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2012-05-25 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Studied? No. I read up on them myself when I was a little girl. And that was a long time ago.

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2012-05-25 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
i guess i could use Hades but he rarely left the underworld...

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2012-05-26 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
That could be bad, storywise.

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2012-05-26 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
maybe he's larking about. it's summer and Persephone is back with Demeter

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2012-05-26 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you'll come up with a good decision.

Horses, horses, horses.

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2012-05-26 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
it does have to be gay erotica

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2012-05-26 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that makes it more difficult for me.

A quote I vaguely remember from my Edith Hamilton's Mythology: "May you never behold me sharing the couch of a god, never! To war with a god-lover is not war, it is despair." I don't recall what she was quoting.

Zeus hardly ever stuck around, except for the kids. Love the Greek gods, truly, but they were dicks when they dealt with humans. Except for Cupid, with Psyche, and Dionysus, who married Ariadne after she had been dumped by Theseus.

[identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com 2012-05-31 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
the greek gods really were dicks (which is sort of the whole point of the Percy Jackson series I suppose)

[identity profile] sillymagpie.livejournal.com 2012-05-31 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
The heroes were often pretty shitty, too.

also true
