seafood fest
Went to my brother and SiL's house today (riding in Mom and Dad's new Honda CRV, nice vehicle). For the most part it was a really nice time, barring one event (and of course that's the part that won't get the fuck out of my mind).
John and Carla made spiney lobster from the Caribbean (I didn't know it was that different from the cold water ones), dungoness crab, veggie kabobs, chicken, steak, fruit salad, macaroni salad and scallops (Much like everyone else in the family my brother doesn't know where to start when it comes to cooking). None of us were 100% in love with the warm water lobster. It was good but nothing like it's northern cousins. Still, great dinner.
I was surprised when he got me a gift too, a necklace earring set his sister in law made. It's very nice.I hope my neck isn't too fat for it. Dad gave me a set of binoculars for my trip. They're nice too. I wasn't expecting them and I'm not sure I need them but he was so proud of them I don't want to say anything.
My brother's boss (our cousin) got him a gingormously expensive baseball bat (my brother played for years and loves the boring ass sport) he brought that out and some of his old gloves. the real shock, i hit the ball and fielded 7 out of 10 balls he whipped at me.
One thing I wish he would do is shut his mouth about politics. I do not want to talk about it since there is no middle ground between him, me and my brother and it about damn near ruined the party. I'm so glad that my brother no longer wants to talk politics (we do not see eye to eye). I do not even want to come home for Christmas this year. I don't. It's like fine. Now my whole mood is absolutely ruined. thanks for nothing.I LOATHE politics and he damn well knows it.

If you find the necklace is too small, send me a pic of it, and I can make you an extender. No charge. ♥
And... four minutes from now - HAPPY FREAKING BIRTHDAY!!! WOOOOOOO!!!!

thank you. I can probably make the extender too if I'm not lazy...
and thank you!

Just go eat some leftovers. That will make things better. Happy Birthday. I will mail the present to your house closer to the time you plan to arrive home.

oh okay. You're not sticking around today then?

Some people just don't know when to shut up, and not just about politics. One of the reasons I spend about 90 percent of my time at work with my headphones on. (One of the few things I do like about my job...that I can get away with it.)

I am lucky that politics (outside of university ones) are rarely spoken
