Sometimes my decisions are solid

Some days I side eye myself.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I canceled those walking tours. And I have a big middle finger for Mother Nature (yes I know I shouldn't antagonize her and in the grand schemes of the insanity in nature right now I'm good, really, shouldn't complain). But all week the weather was 75-80. today it was 93 degrees.

My drive to Cincinnati was smooth as silk. I went into KY (because the belt loop around the city does that) and then back into the city to get to Krohn Conservatory. If there's a chance to go see plants, I'm there. I will say I liked it. It's well done (more later) but it's small, way smaller than the Phipps in Pittsburgh or the Franklin in Columbus (which surprised me). The main display was dinosaurs and first flowers. One room has a kiddie scavenger hunt of plastic dinosaurs (yes I did collect several on my camera as well) and the other had the evolution of plants from bryophytes on up to the complex ones we have now. I thought it was well done and I really liked it.

The desert room had several of the unknown succulents I picked up last year for like 50 cents here and there from Kroger and now I know what they are woo hoo. And the tiny gift shop had a cute cactus for a couple bucks. It's looking at me from the desk in the hotel room. I can't resist a plant. (there were also outside the green house, two castle like structures, old water towers I want to know more about)

Since that took WAY less time than I allotted I thought bonus. Let me go to Spring Grove Cemetery which is one of my favorite Victorian Styled garden cemeteries. (If you look at the wiki link I provided you'll see the Dexter memorial, which I'm in love with). my GPS took me up and down Mount Adams which is just like Mount Washington back in Pittsburgh (Pitt and Cinci are sisters, both on the confluence of three rivers, both blue collar and both OLD as far as America goes) I went past a string of cars inside there and thought oh no, funeral...

No wait, there's a PINK car. I turn around and sure enough it's a wedding in the cemetery. Wow. Okay. I was surprised to say the least (and would prefer this to the barn weddings that are now so popular). I spent two hours driving around, windows down until I drained my camera battery and I was pretty sick from the heat (Seriously 2 hours, 1 mile walking tour. I am SO glad I canceled that idea).

My favorite name I spotted Henry Peachey (right across from the Dexter Mausoleum). I MUST use his name. I need a Mr. Peachey. I spent half the ride around the cemetery telling my brain No you are not writing a rom-com when he meets Keene (nor a cozy mystery). My brain isn't believing me. Another surname (seen on a family dental billboard), Dr. Heck. Oh yes. I think that roller derby woman's real name will be Dreama Heck. And yes Dreama is a THING here. I know three in my local area (and a book I'm reading right now set in the WV appalachian area also has a Dreama.

Came to the hotel. It's just as it was in Decemeber, big comfortable room but everything in desperate need of updating. The carpet is visibly worn everywhere. My door knob is kinda coming off. My shower leaks. The sink plunger is busted (I did get it up so it will drain at least) and there's no shower curtain.

I Googled where to eat and saw within 5 miles was a Carraba's Italian kitchen and I was thinking Flippy and I were talking about this recently. Wasn't even sure it existed. I'm like why not? (also glad I did because now I know an area relatively close that has a lot of pub/restaurants and other things for when I'm back for steampunk stuff). The lobster ravioli in wine-cream sauce were good but I'm pretty sure it was just cream. Maybe they waved the cork over the sauce pan. All I know is I make a better one.

There was also a Kroger in this mall area and I forgot a snack in case of sugar issues so I roll in, getting a pumpkin cold brew in the in-house Starbucks and then stare in awe. this Kroger is the size of a Wal-Mart super store. Oh man wish I could have done more shopping but I did roll out with a Blue Diamond almond can with a flavor I hadn't seen before: Korean BBQ (and yes it does bring bulgogi to mind) I should have bought the elote one too.

I passed on swimming in the hotel (It gave weird vibes) I saw an ad for a furniture site I've never heard of Joybird. I'm like love the name. Let me look for my tv stand there....and right back to wayfair (everything was over 1000$) Ha. tomorrow is museum day. I'm looking forward to it.

I think I'll do all the photos on monday as I'm still charging the camera and I am tired and I want to get some writing in (No not Peachey & Keene)

I'm sorry but Peachey Keene is just too good to pass up!

I can't resist planets either even if I don't have any more room for them. lol

I have never heard of having a wedding at a cemetery. I wonder if it is a new trend?

Have an awesome museum day tomorrow!

Holy moly! Our temps got higher than forecasted, but that just meant 82 instead of 77. It is good you canceled that tour.

I'm glad you enjoyed the places you did visit.

Too bad your hotel was so run down.

Peachey and Keene FTW!!!
