Write Every Day - Day 5

Another big day of editing. I got a chapter ready for my online writers critique group. I managed to get 750 words into my intoabar story. It wasn’t easy. I have the exact same prompt as last year which was a lot of fun last time. The Owl House/Hazbin Hotel crossover was surprisingly popular and I was happy to repeat it until I remembered how I struggled last year too. I got Niffty for the Hazbin crew. I am not great at writing her and to be honest, she’s not really a well developed character but also not a blank slate either.

Speaking of blank slates, I’m onto the Arackniss story of my Yahtzee attempt for getyourwordsout, got 560 words in so all in all a good writing day.

On Day 5, I added 315 words to the short story I started yesterday. I have no idea where it's going, but I am kind of enjoying just being along for the ride for a change.

Got a few paragraphs on my big bang and worked on an outline for a story I'm thinking of doing for Rough Trade in July. (Although I shouldn't be working on anything new at the moment! LOL)

Keira Marcos and her people run Rough Trade. It's a flavor of doing NaNo but she does it 3 times a year (April, July, November), with themes. You don't like the themes, too bad (her attitude). But it's writing 1 or 2 25K stories in a month. It's 'rough' trade because it's, again, like Nano and you post what you write, as you write, with the idea that it's an alpha draft. No conceit allowed, only positive remarks. It is open to any fandom...

You can do outlines ahead of time, but you're on your honor not to pre-write things.

Read her FAQs, if you've never encountered Keira before. She and her minions take no prisoners but they do some interesting things... Her stuff is on her own site: https://keiramarcos.com -- she's multifandom and writes interesting stories.

I've hung around Keira a long time, so I've seen her impatience grow over time. She'll post a 50K fic and folk honestly say "I could read another 50K of this" and she's all "for fuck's sake, is no one ever happy"... but she's a BNF in some fandoms and gets a lot of 'will there be more of X' all the time and I can see that it gets annoying.

Just so you know what you might be getting into. She's open to new folk all the time, as long as they follow the rules...

Yeah I'll pass. After 22 years of nano, I know what I'm capable of writing in a month when motivated. I'll keep it in mind though for when I have more time to noodle with longer stuff
