writing and other stuff

Sometimes I must do, buy candy. My new pill is helping with my blood sugar but this is twice this week along, it's dropped it so low that it could have been fatal without sugar on hand (diabetes is lovely isn't it). I'm still shaking from the effects. Sigh. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. Luckily i have strawberries and dark chocolate on hand.

Luckily I found the bulk of my missing novel in a folder that I took home for Christmas. Dont know where it went off the main story but at least I got nearly 10K of words back. And I started rereading my second Nano novel so I could do these original fic prompts and you know what, for something written that fast, it's NOT that bad (I had no idea I had made it to 9 chapters) Sometimes I go back and reread and think god, that was crap. But on rare occasions I go back and read and say, you know what I'd buy this if I read a blurb. Or maybe that's just my Hubris talking

i'm very glad I found that hunk...and I'm not sure my two drabbles so far don't suck either.

Ah, but I guess we should allow them to suck, that is part of the creative process, unfortunately, in my experience.

oh yes. Like other parts of this post said, sometimes I go back and read something and it's like phew, what was I thinking

Ha! I often think that *while* I'm writing it! ; )

that's me right now. I'm trying to get all the players on the stage and it's like wow this sucks bad. The rest of the story doesn't suck like this

Writing is a journey from suckiness to non-suckiness.

Assuming you don't go backward.

and sometimes you do. As [livejournal.com profile] silvrethorn pointed out its easy to let's say rush the climax and sometimes editors let this slide. I just finished rereading Howl's Moving Castle after many years and it's like WOW that ending was bad.

Oh lord. I still need to send you comments on chapter two. (headdesk)

By Monday at the very latest.

i forgot all about that. Actually it's not THAT story that I lost, that's the one I think is good

I liked what I read about Killian, actually.

that's good to know. I printed out more of Fen's story today

Yay! It should become more cohesive shortly.

C'mon, you KNOW I always hate the beginnings of my stories and have to change them.

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't be me if I didn't change the beginning of a story at least once. *laugh*

With all the drive problems you have... Would you want one of the tape drives I have lying around? I think I have one that runs off of IDE, but if not, could probably lay my hands on a scsi card as well. I could probably even rummage up some matching tapes.

Or if you wanted to be really fancy, I could set you up with a medical grade document archival server - I've got more than enough of those lying around in my living room.

this is very tempting. Once the semester is completely over, I'm backing up everything and wiping this fucker and reinstalling
