I made it home just fine. Too tired to really think at the moment but I did want to pause and remember Steve Irwin. Most of you know by now that he was killed (rather gruesomely) today. Probably most of us expected that he'd go like this somehow. Love him or hate him, I think his contributions to conservation were admirable (especially in Australia since it has some of the most unique creatures to be found anywhere and many are so perilously endangered). He'll be missed.

He was definately one of a kind.
For some this quote from The Shawshank Redemption popped in my head thinking about Steve...
"I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend."

I'm still pretty shocked over Steve Irwin. I guess I just kind of expected him to live forever. We used to watch his show on a regular basis, but haven't lately. Still, I always enjoyed his enthusiasm for what he did. He truly believed in respecting wildlife and the conservation of such. He will be missed!!! My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children!
