Florida must be sucking again

Seriously, hurricanes there suck Canadian air down to where I am (gives you new respect for the Canadians for the cool and damp they live with). It was in the 80's yesterday and suddenly it's dropped 20 degrees and is to go to 40 tonight. Sigh, last night, had the windows open and the fan on and tonight I might be putting on the furance again. Then again I could still be in Florida so I should stop bitching.

Still, the little storm this morning was interesting to watch. You can actually tell the difference between wind through the pines and birches. Birchs have a thin, papery sound but that could be me confabulating given what I know of birchs. The pines have a more whispery noise. Rain was hitting the windows which is amazing given the eaves hang over three or four feet. There were these little horizontal winds that would come up and slap the rain sideways.

Finished Connie Willis' Passage. Vamped Vixen was right. This was quite good. There were some things that were hit so hard, set up so much you were like just get it over with, you're telegraphing too much. However, for all that, when it does happen, it goes somewhere you might not have imagined. So if you like reading about Near Death Experiences (at least in a fictionalized way) this is good.

80's retro holiday weekend (4 straight days of solid 80's music) has kicked my muse into high gear. Got the bare bones for the second chapter of my novel done. Got even more ideas to continue so whee (sadly I have to put the muse in her cage and work on my lesson plan) Oh and if you do want to look at it, I freely admit, Dahlia is a fictionalized me.

We ARE leaving a glacial period. Humans weren't around the last time this happened so who knows what's gonna happen...

ack, we'll survive, we always do, course we may end up covered in fur but fur could be cool. Funnily enough i was talking to someone at work about what if we had all had tails, and should they be furry or not, we decided they should, and I'll stop now. :)

I don't want a furry tail. It'll be hard to clean. Then again I'd look like a rat with a naked tail...okay fur it is

heh, thats exactly what my co worker said, that rats have hair less tails, so she wants a furry one and yes im sure the funny looks from customers had nothing to do with the conversation.

oh nothing at all.

I want to come visit you. Alas, it looks as if it isn't to be; I might be heading back to FL soon. I do have to call Tom and Karen to find out if my house is still standing, doncha know.

yes you might want to do that. What you're not going to let rogue come here and piss off a Wendigo?

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2004-09-06 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Rogue and a Wendigo. Rogue and a Hodag. Rogue and the Buffysh. Rogue meets Zog.

I think I'm more worried about the latter.

I would love to come up....

There's a cricket in my bedroom. Maybe Rogue could eat it.

She's been doing that rather happily, thanks very much. Today, all three of the dogs ran off - they were attached to each other, fortunately, only way I caught them was because they split the difference on a telephone pole.

No more going outside without being tethered to something/one any more.

oh dear. I'm sorry. I can't stop laughing at the image of them wrapped around a pole. Dumb as a door knob.

They were chasing something, so not thinking too well.
