Fannish Friday

I survived the faculty inservice barely (the meds for the sinus infection were making me so sleepy) It wasn't a bad meeting for a change and dinner afterwards at Toro Loco was fun.

I did finish writing the Annabelle Lee short story for the
Anna Karenina Isn’t Dead open call. I need to type it in (wrote during the meeting). I still need a super quick beta on this.

While [personal profile] spikesgirl58 isn't a community she does host a 6 word writing challenge every week and here is my offering for that.

Title: Dreamlandia

Summary: Malcolm is so very open to new sensations and is thrilled to learn Dani is too.

Notes: written for Spikesgirl58’s 6 words challenge. The six words were Lift, Stress, Climate, Extent, Cutting & Finance and for drabblewriter for the prompt Any, any - comfort, gently, softly, tenderness and for the [community profile] allbingo prompt of the sensation seekers. It fits into the same post S2 speculation as A Confession of Pain but is a stand alone. And written for the get your words out roll the dice challenge. I had to write 1273 words. I went a tad over

Also I've been interacting with a community you all might like [community profile] comment_bingo (not to mention allbingo listed above). This one is a little different. You are given a bingo card scavenger hunt to find and comment on fan creations because we all know what kudos and comments mean to us. I just finished a black out a week or so ago and you can see it here.

And since it's friday here's a bunch of fandom recs for us all to interact with

Thanks for recommending that comm :) I might have to try it out myself. And the recs look fascinating, too, and there are quite a few tempting fandoms

I don't know if I commented it already, but you also got me hooked up on the comment bingo, and I'm about to finish a blackout (right term? doing all the prompts) just in time - which gives me satisfaction as I managed to fail H/C bingo so spectacularly that I didn't even finish one of the intended stories for it, although I have three posted as unfinished WIPs. I did intent my card to be more of a general inspiration than to really finish a bingo, but I still expected better of me. ;op But then again, the last three months weren't good, writing-wise, so it was to be expected. I won NaNo but managed to burn myself out with it, and am still dealing with getting back into a sensible writing rhythm. But I still really enjoyed my prompts, and the mod said it's fine to just use them as inspiration even without finishing a bingo. Now I aim for doing at least one or two finished things for the amnesty period!

... .and stupid me totally missed the extension of he round posted on the 4th - of course, I was having other things going on for me right now, and I expected all entries to the comm to be bingo fills. Darn! ;o) But I might be able to still do something about it and at least post one of the finished snippets I wanted to write, which only needs some polishing. But it doesn't matter, I really didn't expect to properly finish a bingo, I wanted the card mostly as an inspiration, and that worked out very well!
NaNo burning me out this time was mostly due to a mistake on my part: I signed up for a small ficlet exchange due mid-November, for which I also wrote three H/C bingo fills (WIPs at this point). As the exchange allowed WIPs and I could use them as H/C bingo fills it seemed perfect. But I underestimated how much more difficult it is to not write a single story with all the drive that goes with it, and struggling to manage all that and get my daily writing in has been just exhausting. I'm still debating whether I'll do NaNo again, but only with a single story, or if this one has been my last - my tenth, at that, and tenth won in a row, so that's a really good result. But I think I will continue having November as "my" writing time, as one of the peaks of doing NaNo is consciously devoting so much time to writing.
