Today I went to the expensive greenhouse today and got chocolate mint and trailing rosemary which I have never seen before. Still edible like the standard rosemary this one cascades and can be used as ground cover. I like that idea.

The surgeon here refused to see me because I'm from out of state and at this point by the time we got the ball rolling I'd have to go b ack. If the pcp I wanted to take over here would have called me back....but I did find out my phone was called two days ago but never rang thru. Gah. Whatever. I have an appointment when a new to me surgeon back in OH. His name is sever...not the best name or THE best name for a surgeon depending on how you look at it.

OPI nail polish did a zodiac theme. Gemini was boring white so I bought Scorpio instead beautiful blue

My friends sent my parents 60th anniversary cards. They were so happy with that.

I was downstairs in the game room talking to evil_little_dog and I noticed that over the bar where my parents have hanging glasses (like at some real bars) and it's backlit. That's new. I didn't think much of it until I turned off the lights and it didn't go off. Nor did it go off when I left the bar (thinking it might be motion activated) so I go up and ask Dad (he put them in. he was an electrical engineer) and he's like how did they get on? I expected I accidentally hit one of the switches but no, this is on a separate little controller. You couldn't accidentally hit this. We have no idea how it got turned on. Weird.

You're getting a two-fer for fannish 50 today. First up, have I mentioned I'm a fan of plants? I suspect many of you could guess I love plants from my posts. Well I escaped the house to go to one of the three local greenhouses because I needed herbs (and mom is also sick with bronchitis, sorry Mom so she didn't come). There I am, unsupervised in a greenhouse/farmer's market.

Long story short, I got cinnamon basil, bonsai basil, regular basil, lemon thyme, Italian parsley, zucchini and a flower, a torenia. And then they had free tomato six-packs that you could take one. Come with me early girls (not my favorite but hey free). I am a happy girl with all my new plants that I have no idea where I'm putting them.

In good news, my busted open toe is finally sealed over (a week after the fact) I am relieved. It's not red, not swollen so I think I'm past the danger zone.

I’m aiming for a large straight in which I have to write a linked story using all five prompts—all five prompts must connect to tell a united story. This is story number two and the prompt is curious. Since they are connected stories it would be better to start with number one.

I'm still too nauseous to get much cleaning done. Mostly I think because I tried eating a real dinner yesterday. I'm really upset by this. Funny thing, everyone here is like stop taking that drug (I am. It's a once a week injection I have to wait this out)

My friends on FB are like take zofran and bentyl. Dudes, if I have to take bentyl to make my stomach move (which I'm supposed to take that anyhow but I wont' because of side effects) maybe not take the drug causing the issue in the first place. I'm like do you understand this drug can CAUSE damage and you want me to mask the warning signs of the damage. For what? On the off chance I'll lose weight? My sugar is skyrocketing because I'm not eating so the drug is a huge failure all around.

I miss having someone who reads my fanfic regularly AND is someone I can talk to about plot points. I need to get Husk/Angel together in my overlord series but I'm totally blank on what the next step is besides the sex. I don't want to write just a sex story for this. The other stories are so much richer than just that. Sigh.

But getting up before the sun sucked. We had some really good projects. However I was sad to see it was mostly 6-7th graders. We didn't have any high schoolers like we usually do and that's down to the fact that in OH 6-7th grades have to do a science project and then it's never again. They can graduate without much science. It's so sad and it's impacting my university badly, especially my nurses.

I took a nap when I got home which is unusual for me and I felt all the worse for it (as per usual)

I sat down to work on my sabbatical presentation. The power went out. sigh. It did come back soon enough and I'm up to about 40 slides and there is no way I can cover all the women I want to and do them justice.

Where I prove no good deed goes unpunished. I think I traumatized the poor UK soccer student with the poisonous snake case study. 'The thing that's going to kill you back home is a cow.' (he pulled up the statistics on that for the class) well yes but that doesn't work with the clotting cascade stuff you're learning so hemotoxins and snakes it is.

And then I did go to the coffee house to write (finally) and try their new drink line up. They really wanted me to try the Lucky Latte with 'cereal milk' Well I don't actually like cereal never did but I said okay. It came out with lucky charms on it. It wasn't bad but I took the last table (because the bible thumpers from the faith and fitness thing across the way were there in force. I want to scream go read Matthew 6:5-6:6 at them every week) and two 80 somethings came in and I said sit with me, it's okay.

So they see I have my computer up. 'oh but you can't work with us talking.' Sure I can. I can tune you out...but NOT when you play 20 questions with me for an hour. Sobs. I didn't want to be rude and they were so fascinated to meet a doctor who was interested in herbal medicine and IS studying it at my university (though they didn't like my vaccine answer. No, you can't replace it with herbs you old hippies, get a vaccine) They wanted to friend me on facebook. I mean they were sweet old ladies but omg can't you see I'm trying to work. Oh right that was your first words to me. You just didn't think I meant it...

So I got back way late. tried to color my hair but something went wrong (it was enough to do a root cover which was enough) and I THINK I'm packed up and ready to go tomorrow. I'm still very leery of going out of the country right now but no one else seems to be.

I am still having this travel anxiety that I don't know where it came from. I just know when it started, 2005 which I chalked it up then to money I didn't have but it's still there. Sigh. even if I'm just going home it's there. It's not bad, just this vague gnawing 'I'm not ready to go' feeling. I have a checklist thinking that would help. It has not for the anxiety but I'm still glad of it.

There's a saying around here (and points south) God Willing and the creek don't rise (I'll be there if those things happened) The creek rose but before that let's look at this day.

It wasn't supposed to rain. It's raining like 24 hours of it. Naturally I have to go to Best Buy to return the new monitor with it's small dead pixels before the 15 day grace period is over (yes I know BB sucks but they had this computer on sale 300$ cheaper than Amazon and Costco which were my preference) technically that was yesterday but I was taking my chances

But at work I got an email from payroll saying our payroll company needs me to send them the routing number because it was changed but they got it straightened out with my bank this time. No link to click but I'm like is this real?

I call my bank. They're like NO we did not change the routing number. I look up our actual payroll person (I don't know I have no reason to know) It WAS from her. It's real. Are you sure it's not been changed? My BANK is but to be fair I don't have my routing number on me and the bank will only do so much over the phone so I have to go up to the bank tomorrow and I'm wondering if I'm getting my pay check tomorrow...

Annoyed by this I head to Huntington to hit Best Buy. It's raining. I get to Hillbilly Hotdog (because if my health is gonna suck anyhow, might as well play into it). I hit the comic book store (hoping I didn't buy some of these before) And find out there's a new The Crow comic by o'Barr (need to tell JK) sadly they only have issue 3 so I have them trying to get me 1 and 2.

I hit up Michael's and find a few things I needed and spent my coupon.

I go to Best Buy and the kid is like you have protection on this. I know. I told the call center. He rolled his eyes. They're always wrong. I had two YEARS on this monitor. I didn't have to race down after work in the fucking rain. They replaced it with another Samsung (and if this gets dead pixels, that's it for them).

I go to Home Goods and they have TONS of Italian goodies on clearance and I bought so much of it. Lemon concentrate for Amalfi, alpine honey, a shit ton of Himalayan pink salt, kumquats in cognac, artichokes, hazelnuts in honey, truffles. But what made me laugh is I found a red dutch oven in the shape of a heart and text JK I found Angel Dust's cookery but then when I was checking out, I found out the amount left on my holiday gift card was 6.66 and the cost of my haul was 69.69. Yep Angel was in that store. Ha.

Macy's had nothing I wanted but found a new manga at BaM and after spilling my Box of Chocolates latte (salted caramel/chocolate/hazelnut latte with red velvet drizzle) on me and the car seat (thankfully not much of it and I'm wearing scrubs so it'll be okay) I stop at Sheetz to pee (because BaM's bathroom is closed again) and the warning comes on.

All the rain melted all 8-12 inches of snow (and it was almost 60 today) it's unfreezed the Ohio River and of course the rain, the creeks are rising. The river is flooding. The rocks are sliding. Mud is coming over the road. I'm like am I getting home? (on the phone tonight evil little dog is like wait isn't that the mall next to the cliff? yes yes it is) I made it home, got blinded by a train again.

And my phone call ended with ELD when my calf muscles decided to charley horse. OUCH.

Speaking of ouch I'm not sure I can continue with the Dexcom. My skin doesn't react well with glue. It simultaneously won't stick in some places and burns/won't come unglued in other (I know this from other treatments like kinesiotape) Also this thing has been itchy (glue) and burning like fuck (the wire sensor) so last time I accidentally knocked it off but this time I couldn't get this off to save my soul. I had to alcohol soak part of it. It still tore some of the skin (not enough to bleed) and the sensor was covered in blood and there's a bruised hole where it was). I'm giving it the night off. I like that I don't have to stick myself several times a day and it gives a lot of good info but this is not ideal

He's 82. He spent it arranging for my uncle to come home. Part of why he was so debilitated was he wasn't eating. He's a bit stronger now. Honestly he doesn't need to be home but he doesn't need total nursing care which is where he is now. He needs assisted living but you get this stupid ass assessment, oh you're too bad for this care but not bad enough for this other care. OMFG. I hope this works but I'm leery. If his wife was better at things ...

I had a good write off in my monthly writers' zoom meeting. I started the new novel. I'm going to share a bit but BEFORE I do let me ask you this. one of you had mentioned a week or so ago about being inspired by my posts to share part of YOUR story but I was super busy and didn't get to read it and now I've forgotten WHO it was. If it was you, drop me the link please (also a couple of you had your stories podficced in the holiday exchanges, I wanna hear those too.)

Also I have lost the links I was using in my wedding horror and I'm SO annoyed because that's twice now I had the perfect monstrous bit but have lost the inspiration but it was in Italian witchcraft. Sigh. Maybe I can find it again. I want her to use magic from Italian folklore.
