Help from the peanut gallery
Jan. 19th, 2010 12:38 pmI have to move Mardi Gras in New Orleans to Mardi Gras in Las Vegas (long story) for this vampire thing I'm working on. Problem is, it's easy to find stuff on Mardi Gras N.O. stuff but not so much so in Vegas.
has anyone been there for those festivities or at least has a passing acquaintance with it? I can use all the help I can get.
And as for the other story, honestly you'd think there would be more historical Pittsburgh stuff on line, just saying

Date: 2010-01-19 05:39 pm (UTC)As for Vegas. I was only passing through for a day. Only think I could say is that they have slots in even the grocery stores and air ports.
That and the 24 hour drive thru marriage chapels.

Date: 2010-01-20 01:34 am (UTC)Pittsburgh just doesn't have much in the way of glamorous history, but I'm sure there MUST be at least one place that has something you can use... (ponder)

Date: 2010-01-20 11:56 am (UTC)If you've been downtown at all (Fremont Street), you've probably seen it and not even realized it. It's one of the corner places, kinda little like they all are, with a little walk-up cafe in the back where they sell some of the best hot dogs and fries you'll ever eat, but they're always advertising the bad stuff (deep fried twinkies and oreos, etc.).
They hand you beads and a raffle ticket when you walk in, and if you hang out in there long enough (there's only about fifty machines, really), they might call your number and there's prizes on the half-hour (usually better beads).
Depending on the girls handing out the beads, you can get more than one string in different colors. Some are stingier than others.
