It was so bad the physical therapist sent me home early. My knees swelled up so much I couldn't do my usual excercises and I could barely breath. I hate heat. mid 80's, nearly 100% humidity. There are reasons I left Florida, hopefully never to return unless it's Jan/Feb.
I edited Machiavelli Moon today, just one chapter, found a major mistake. Glad I sent it off to that contest last year with THAT in it. head desk.
bob_fish is trying to lead me into writing more erotica. Olivia and Riza are looking at JT's Stockroom right now...
I got this from the event organizer for my conference
Ever had a Fat Tire? No, not flat tire......FAT tire? The New Belgium
Brewing CO in Fort Collins Colorado produces the 3rd most popular brews
in the United States, the most popular of which is the famous Fat Tire.
Can you figure out why it's called that? With the popular Colorado
breweries such as Breckenridge, Wynkoop, Rock Bottom and the Flying Dog
within walking distance of the hotel, some research may be needed while
you are at the HAPS conference this year.
i guess my nights are planned.
As I was getting ready this morning, i had on a show about Star Trek's impact and the Christie auction. The stars kept saying 'it's so nice the fans get a piece of the show they loved so much.' No, that's really not the case. RICH fans got a piece. Some of those models went for a quarter of a million dollars or more. They did a follow up with one guy in London who got stuff in an 18 wheeler delivery...my lord. He must have bought a quarter of the lots. Must be nice.
But Star Trek got me thinking about all the dystopic YA's I've been picking up lately (mostly unintentionally, you couldn't tell from the blurb). I don't quite get this new hot stuff appeal of the dystopia. Star Trek wasn't a utopia (that would be boring) but it was hopeful. I don't get the appeal of these unrelentingly depressing dystopias. Yes there is certainly room for a lot of conflict but more often than not, the roles of women become medival again, there for the mere purpose of breeding, even if they are the leads (usually a girl who rebels) or there to be killed for entertainment. But I can't deny their popularity. I just dont' get it.

Date: 2010-05-14 04:03 pm (UTC)What about my FMA story where Roy and Riza are killed and alchemists are reviled? And the one I was sending you snippets on last night? I consider both of those to be dystopic. (Hopefully that's the right word.)

Date: 2010-05-14 04:14 pm (UTC)I am a bad porny enabler. I should really stop doing that. Your original fiction takes priority over the tale of what Olivia and Riza did to Roy after their hardware shopping spree. XD
