Memorial Day

cornerofmadnessHope everyone’s Memorial Day was a good one (seems inappropriate to wish anyone a happy day). Mine was spent in more lectures. The first one was really cool. He was the creator of the Visible Human. While most of his teaching tools are beyond what I need/could afford, I really enjoyed that. They now have simulators to do surgery. I got to do a virtual knee arthroplasty and as someone who has assisted on them, it felt amazingly real. As I told him, if I had something like this to practice on before I was first put into the OR, I would have been so much more comfortable.
I did win a door prize. I didn’t win any of the really cool prizes but I’m happy with my prize. It’s fun. I got a dissected rat model. Go me. Naturally I rolled around the 16th street market. Found a yummy gelato place for lunch and ended up at Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Co. Granted, I expected that the shrimp would be expensive but I was really hungry for the hush puppy appetizers until I saw they were 9$. Dude, no way. Not ending up with a 30$ meal.
Tomorrow I’m excited for the workshops. What is it about having to get on a train or any public transport that makes me a little nervous about the timeline of catching it? Probably my control freak nature. So yes, I’m obsessing over whether or not I’ll catch the train or if I miss it what then? Gah.
Time to let go. Heading for a swim and the hot tub and watch the sun set.

Date: 2010-06-01 04:50 am (UTC)I'm glad you're having a good time at your conference. It sounds wonderful. (I get nervous about public transport and want to be on the platform at least 10-15 minutes early. It drives my sister nuts.)
I spent pretty much the entire day on the Izumi wig. *sigh... it's looking almost there though!*
Yesterday Anat-Astarte and I edited. :) Chapter 57 is coming along swimmingly and Garfiel dressing Havoc at the haberdashery store? Epic. XD
