Believe it or not I understood every single item on your list!

Helps to have a mother and father who grew up in New Jersey and the surrounding area.

When Cousin Mary got lost in Philly, while trying to get back to Delaware she called me...full well knowing I would understand the lay of the land and tell her which way to go. Gerry thought my directions were a bit odd "Consider the roads being built like a wheel spoke...start at center, calling that Philly....now which wheel spoke are you on?" I listened for a moment, grinned and calmly told her to turn around right then and there or she'd be in New Jersey so fast her head would spin. Hit a certain road then go South.

When I got off the phone, Gerry gave me a funny look and I told him the roads in PA originally were in a wheel spoke pattern! It was easier to describe it that way, since Mary did tend to think like me when it came to driving directions.

HAHA I knew all of these! The only thing it left off is giving directions by using landmarks. Especially landmarks that don't exist anymore.

...Wait, what are gyros called in the real world?

Now see if I tell anyone else that fact they think I'm nuts. Only someone from the PA, East Coast, area would understand and know it to be fact!

*huggles*

BTW when Mary got back into Delaware she called her boss, and told him how she got unlost. When she finally was transferred to Wyoming, they were still telling new hires how to find their way back to Delaware by using the wheel spoke analogy!

You outatownas r'all whacked.

Ah, my family's in the Harrisburg area (and originally from Jersey), so this is only partially familiar.

I tried "Tucson" first, but apparently it's changed a lot in the last twenty-odd years, because a lot of the answers don't match my memories (although "you hate Phoenix and can give 10 reasons why" rings true still, as does "high school parties are held in the desert").

I'll have to try Phoenix and see what I get.
