yes my computer is still a very expensive paperweight. My IT friend who is going to help me (I hope) was having a crazy family weekend and couldn't sit down with me. Hoping tonight. Been talking to others, yeah apparently Win32 is a bastard to get rid of.

Ain't that special since all my exams and what not are on that computer. Luckily I do have back ups (now to find the latest disc) but i'll have to spend way way more time at work since the netbook doesn't have a cd rom.

thank god the flashdrive wasn't in the desktop when Alphonse got sick. After this I think I'm going to get a large flash (and a hub for everything) and use that to back up the stories I'm actively working on. Burning the whole thing to a disc is great but i can't do that every night.

At least I used the offline time to clean up my computer desk and the bedroom closet. I lost a lot of shoes. the mice ruined a few pairs and all of my goth Abby boots dry rotted. OMG. I'm so angry. decided to get rid of many more shoes while I was at it. and have a garbage bag filled with things that need to be washed the laundromat's hottest water in case a mouse was in them.

Seem to still be in the kitchen so I tried to run down the landlord again. Got his wife. 'Yeah we live in a field so field mice always get in. Don't you have a cat?' ....

speaking of him, I was groggy this morning and forgot to shut the bedroom door (he's not allowed in) He was on my bed in under two minutes. brat.

So hopefully by tonight I'll be up and running but if you still don't see me, don't be surprised. I may have to send my computer out to be cleaned

Yes, we live in a field, but if your husband had sealed all the holes in my apartment, which I've been asking him to do since I moved in here 3-4 years ago, I wouldn't have mice in my apartment!

Ugh ugh ugh.

I hear you about the computer woes since mine decided that Saturday morning would be an awesome day to die on me.

And just because you have a cat doesn't mean that your landlord shouldn't take care of the mouse problem.

pretty much but obviously he didn't do that even in his OWN home

these are country people here so apparently we accept mice as part of the deal. I grew up in the country and I ain't buying that excuse.

sorry to hear about your computer

So, he doesn't mind living with vermin?

Scratch that.

Sorry to hear about your computer virus. Those things are just evil. Good luck getting rid of yours without too much damage.

Yeah, that's how I felt when we discovered the mice in our office got into my drawer with my sweaters and basically ATE my high school Letterman sweater. (I keep sweaters in the office because they keep the office for people like you.)

Stupid mice.

Cats will only chase mice if they feel like it. Dogs are probably better for such things

I'm glad you have the work computer - Oh how I remember and dread the memory of all the times my machine crapped out on me. I hate to admit it, but it was worse than not having a car.

and i have several more closets to go. my bum shoulder is slowing me down, not to mention summer school

yes a dog probably would be, Kanda can't be arsed to do anything but play with his new best friend (which I hope stops once he's neutered in a week)

Yeah hey....I live in the country, and I sure as hell don't use that as an excuse for the mice getting into my house. Grew up in the country and we NEVER used that as an excuse.

My dear, your landlord is just flat lazy and wants to earn renter income without doing any of the work.

Exactly - And information input grinds to a halt (or you drive to the library...).

*shaking head*

No...being "too old" is no excuse either. He could hire some younger workers to take care of things. He just doesn't want to spend his 'profit margin'.
