bobfest and casinos

cornerofmadnessMom made it here (and keeps whining about the clutter, i remind her it's easy to send her on her way than it is to declutter so...) Kanda was utterly freaked. He calmed down later tonight.
We went to Bob Evans Farm Fest. It was hot. like in the 80's hot (last year it was muddy and cold) Really there's NOT much to do there. 95% of the crafts are country and no one i know does that style. I got my traditional three things, a big jar o' honey, the handmade soap and maple sugar cotton candy. Plus I did get something that is a really cool idea. She is cutting up old silverware and bending the fancy ends into rings and turning the handle or interesting spoon ends into pendants (often etched). I don't really wear rings much but I did buy one with dogwoods. Mom got glass rings at another artist I've bought from before.
From there, we went to the Mardi Gras casino near Charleston WV. 35 was closed halfway there shunting us onto Old 35 i.e. a goat path thru the hills of West Virigina. Interesting drive. My GPS lost the satellite hemmed in by those hills but the internet said it was just 35 to I 64 E and then follow the signs on the service road and so it was. It's a small but it was very cute in side with the French Quarter theme and decorating.
I did splurge on the seafood buffet. steamed crab legs, shrimp cocktail, calamari, smoked salmon, several other fishes, crab cakes (these weren't good), angels on horseback, prime rib, shrimp in a spicy sauce and little steamer clams in a rich creamy tomato basil sauce, and lots of desserts (there was salad too but why fill up on that??). This is what gluttony looks like. Gambling wise didn't do so hot but it was fun.
