I need to remember
Apr. 13th, 2011 10:52 pmthat no one is perfect on their first try and that I've been immobile for a long time as far as exercise is concern. Why do I expect myself to be perfect the first time I try something then get so frustrated I don't want to continue. Sigh. But I AM continuing the best I can. Now to figure out where the hell I put my tai chi dvd. I KNOW I have one. I can't find it.
My brother is in the hospital post op. Says he's out of pain for the first time in 6 months. Let's see how this goes.
I'm so frustrated right now. It's not enough that LJ is having issues but my broadband is too. it's timing out not only LJ but facebook, twitter and my emails. I have no idea what the issues are now other than verizon sucks.
Soul had such a grand time in the tub tonight. He flung water everywhere. I need to get in the tub in my swimsuit and record this. ALso I forgot to mention but I woke up a couple days ago to this noise. I listened. It was a pounding sound. I went into the bathroom and Kanda was pounding Soul's head off the toilet. I just left them to it.
I need need need to get my big bang edited tonight. Just
evil_littl_dog's (happy birthday!) edits. I'll have to wait to post it around for ME to have time to look at it myself. Oddly the artist most in contact with me through this is currently the only one I haven't heard back from yet.
Day Thirteen: Favorite female character in a book
This cover is from the 1930's
This is the cover I read from the 60's.
Nancy Drew. I loved her. People say there were no good female characters back in the day and that isn't true, at least not in the mystery genre. We've always had great female characters. Nancy has been with me since I've been 6 years old. I loved her then, love her now. Yes, she might be a rich elitist but my god, look at when she was written. The 1930's? We're lucky there was a girl character smart enough to on her own. What I would like to see are the original 1930's stories. The stories were gutted out in the 1950's to remove some of the racism (well I wouldn't be too keen on that but again, 1930's, it's what you'd expect sadly) but she was also made into a Mcarthy era docile girl. There is a very interesting wiki about all of this. the 1950's, still held up as the golden era (I suppose if you're a white male...) actually was less tolerant of a smart woman than the 1930's. Yes, Nancy is pure wish fulfillment but I still love her anyhow.

now you see why I don't like to be too alone here. This path is straight down hill and lands IN the lake. With broken bones if you fall. I might go back this weekend

Wow, I didn't know that about the Nancy Drew series! I'm tempted to go searching for older copies now, if any are even available. Yes, racism is bad, but that's no reason to edit an old book. It's a historical artifact, basically. Editing it doesn't change the past. *boo, censorship!*
That path looks so fun.

Date: 2011-04-14 03:21 am (UTC)I'm glad J is doing better - at least not being in pain. Was there anything said about why they didn't do the operation earlier?
Exercise is GOOD. And stop being such an A++++ personality and just do it. :P

Internet troubles drive me up the wall when they happen too. It's like if you pay for a service, it should work.
Man, I used to love the Nancy Drew novels. I haven't read those in forever. She's a good character.
And that last photo is gorgeous. I love scenic photography like that. Our Earth really has it's beautiful spots.
Have a good day today.
