It's all over but the crying. I have one more meeting and graduation tomorrow then I'm off til July. gah wish I didn't have to teach in the summer. I need to figure out how to get into summer research (which naturally doesn't pay I need money...)

I'm a little disappointed I wasn't there to get my 5 year service pin. USUALLY they hand them out at the last all-campus meeting but they had a pizza party this time. Our new email system is faulty. I didn't get the notice. Sigh. The pin was in my inbox when I got to school to put in the grades. oh well.

that was my exciting day. put in grades. deal with students outside my office door. put in grades. students again. more grades. whimpers, goes home later than I would have if I had been teaching...

I did try to do my first non-guided mediation. For the last 9 months or so I've been taking advantage of the free guided meditations from the Chopra center when they do their challenges (though now they won't let you download them, just charge you for that privledge later). Anyhow, I have about 30 or more downloaded from last year and I've been using them.

I finally felt a little freer to move away from them and try my mantra meditation with some of the music designed for that. Well that's what I SHOULD have thought. No I decide to leap head first into the chakra meditation book where you have to concentrate on yantras. I failed to even manage it for as long as I usually do in a guided meditation. I think i WILL back off, move slower and just try the mantra meditations before taking a step up into opening chakras and concentrating on yantras to embed them in my mind.

I haven't tried guided meditation--I've had more success with visualization techniques in a dark, quiet room. Apparently I don't like people telling me what to do :P. You're way out of my league if you're doing mantras and yantras--someday you're going to scare the crap out of your cats when you start levitating around the room.
