but Soul doesn't believe me. It's not been a good cat-owning day. Soul and Kanda both tore me up and Roy tripped me into the wall. The problem is i'm still trying to heal three week old scratches. This is starting to veer into hard decision time.

I went into the office to copy the MRI report. Naturally I read the report. There's next to nothing in it. OMG, seriously? THIS is what we're using. Thankfully i'm taking the films with me and I looked them over myself. There are a copy of high signals here and there, definitely the supraspinatus tendon is a mess. BUt that is the one thing the report says.

I also learned that my computer at work is fragged. twice now it has taken over a half hour to turn on and then it still won't work. Um...

I am falling down on my responsibilities. I found a story by [livejournal.com profile] spiderling while cleaning today. OUCH. SORRY. Found bits of another by ELD. Also I am scowling at a publishing house (forgot to mention this) I got an email on friday about a 100$ honorarium to amazon for reviewing something but they sent it sat and it was due monday morning. Well um, who the hell checks work email over the weekend? SIgh. I could have used that to buy FMA Brotherhood.

THANKS to the people offering to beta read Space Pirates. It IS done. WHEE. finally finished something

But you know SOMETHING is in there. hee.

on those kitties and their claws. I'm sure you know that you can clip their claws with a regular nail clipper. I do Star's pretty regularly because otherwise she gets stuck to things. I don't cut them very far back, just maybe two millimeters to blunt the tips. That way she doesn't accidentally punch through my skin when we're playing. I will tell you at first they won't like it. You might only be able to get two or three done before you have to let him down and come back to it later. But after a while they'll realise that you're not actually hurting them and they'll sit still longer.

They get used to you messing with their hands and they don't mind so much. I know from my own experience that as I got better at it too, I can get it done faster before she has a chance to get worried about it. I can snip the tips off all ten front claws in less than a minute. The end result is she still has claws to grab onto things in their normal floor to ceiling activities, but they won't accidentally snag delicate human skin as easily when they play hamstring the human.

I don't know about your cats, but mine stopped trying to herd me (i.e. trip me into the wall trying to guide me in the direction they want me to go 90° off my current path at 4 mph) once they'd accidentally got launched into the wall a few times getting in front of a foot already in motion. If you stop trying to stop yourself when they do it it won't take them long to figure out You're bigger.

I wonder if Soul's footy is getting sprained. You know? is that the same one he stove up before? Either that, or he may have something in one of his pads that is causing it to get inflamed and then go down, and then get inflamed again because whatever it is is still in there.

oh i trim them all the time. I still have all my podiatric equipmetn. I was thinking about those rubber tips but they seem like a freakin hazard.

I've kicked, slammed, sat on and otherwise rolled over these cats I have no idea how many times. They must be slow learners in that respect

I've wondered about Soul's paws. He's finally getting taller (he's actually taller than Roy) but he's a short cat and he's a featherweight. He plays rough with the other two not to mention me stepping/falling/rolling on him though this time she did think it was him chewing on an allergic reaction (which wouldn't explain the swollen leg from a month ago)

Have you considered having your vet (or you, if you're adventurous) putting Soft Paws (http://www.softpaws.com/?gclid=CLT39N-u86gCFaYZQgodIRdMTQ) on them? They'll hate them, and they may gnaw them off the first time or so they're on, but they will eventually give up and deal with it.

I always call it the "Kitty Agility Test" when Dickens runs under my feet. He's betting that I'm much more agile than I am.

OIC... I have considered putting those tips on Star. We'd actually decided to do it but then my finances just haven't been able to justify the expense. Most cats tolerate them pretty well. Once they are used them they just ignore them.

Well, it's a tiny apartment and three cats, two of which are still kittenish? But yeah, yeesh.

I AM JEALOUS at the possibility of you getting Brotherhood. *wants so bad* I wonder if the fun things like the 4koma are included in the English versions.

Ooo, neat tree.

Sorry, I'm obviously behind

the expense is the issue. I could get it from Fosters and Smith. I asked around here and got looked at like I'm nuts

i have but I'm afraid they'd either hurt themselves tearing them off and I can not afford them really. Also the vets here, they thought I was a bit nuts asking about it (this place is like 1950 in a lot of respects)

That's just it, they think we're as agile as they are. wrong bet.

kitties are supposed to be cute, not hazardous to your health!

Congrats on finishing something. That's gotta be a good feeling.

That photo is really pretty.

Hmm. How much were they asking? You can get kits from directly from Soft Paws for $18.95 and you get enough claw sets and glue to put them on 4 times. They say they last 4-6 weeks each application. That'd give you enough to put on all three cats (if you wanted to do Roy the Runaway) and still have spares for if they lose one here and there. You can get them in clear or in a buzillion colors, or even in dual colors, or two color packs or combo packs.
