cornerofmadness: Angel in drag holding up cards (summer sucks)
[personal profile] cornerofmadness
Or you Alberta? I'm freaking melting judging by the sweat stains on the furniture. shudder.

Today was just freaking WEIRD. I woke up more exhausted than when I went to sleep. I love those days.

I dragged up to do the laundry, including the rugs/purse combo that got peed on and the pooed on blanket. The librarian and I were chatting and all of Jackson browned out. I jogged (okay stomped slowly) to the laundromat and me and my still wet three loads of clothes come home all crabby.

I need hangers. I had tons of them and now I have not enough. I know there were some in the back of the closet. I find a spider, an empty box, wine for christmas gifts from 2 years ago and a half dozen boxes of christmas cards. WTF. No hangers though?????? I had to stop digging, it hurt the arm.

It started storming and in the midst of this I decide to finally upgrade my free antivirus to a paid one since it was on megasale. Only it won't load up. I talk to India for an hour (where the man told me I was the nicest doctor he's ever spoken to, probably not true but probably the nicest thing that happened all day). He showed me a ton of registry errors and issues in the prefetch doodad and offered to help but I can't afford Avast's yearly maintainence fees. Also I am NOT sure that I'm not being given a bill of sales. I'd rather talk it over with my IT friends. I DO believe there is something wrong with the computer. It has issues. But all anyone had to do was tell me to save the license # and use the browse to load it instead of trying to OPEN the file and put in the numbers like it asked. two hours later...

Then as I was finally trying to catch up on my work, I felt something on my leg and thought it was a spider. It was Soul. He was out from under the futon and wanted to be held and held and held. I couldn't put him down.I DID notice the leg he's always favoring has a distinct knot on it. I'm wondering if he broke his leg playing with Kanda/jumping around like an idiot and a lot of this is stemming from pain. He followed me into the kitchen and played with me the whole time I was eating. He's under the futon now but that was a burst of progress. I'm also wondering if the knot is a tumor. I do believe there is something sinister going on in the background with this cat. He has varicose veins and other issues and he's one.

My arm is a bit better now, that tape works. I can also get my arm to shoulder height in front of me and almost that high to the side and I can touch one butt cheek (the opposing one is out of reach yet) This is lots of progress. I could do none of those things last week.

And in good news go check out [livejournal.com profile] jana_denardo you might see something pretty.

Oh you're not a pudgy old broad. Maybe a young one who's a tad overweight....but not bad if you ask me!

Poor Soul...he's just full of problems!

I really, REALLY want to go to that garden.

The laundry gods are occasionally quite evil.

If Soul is in pain, that explains a LOT. Cats don't show their pain the way other animals do, and acting out is one way (we just discovered one of our boys is going behind the sofa to poo -- this is new. I don't know which one, but I suspect Silhouette, who is old and cranky and may have decided going into the litter box hurts his arthritic hips too much to bother even going through the cat flap into the cat bathroom...).

I love the garden. And those stepping stones remind me a little tiny bit of Bond Falls, but I don't think you crossed it the way [livejournal.com profile] silvrethorn and I did. :D

Poor Soul. That might be the problem. Who knows?

isn't it great? I just discovered that about 2 hours from here is a Japanese garden at the Daws arboretum

it would explain a lot. Yeah Iknow what you're going through and it is possible that it is silhouette for just that reason poor old guy

There was a path of breakwaters across one of the falls toward the top. K and I wound our way down to the bottom, cross the area where the falls were more like a trickle, and climbed back up the opposite side, then crossed in the middle of the falls where the breakwater was.

Hon I have seen diabetics our age that were GROSSLY overweight, who thought they were the gods gift to the world etc. GROSS GROSS GROSS! And they smelled.

So really you're not too bad, in fact I can tell you've lost weight.

Soul has a LOT of issues.

When Gerry's cat got too old to comfortably lift his legs to get into the litter box, Gerry went and bought one of those low lying concrete mixing pans for the old guy. Worked great.

Poor Soul and poor you!

Well, since he clearly has a hurt that would explain a lot. At least he came out and wanted some love, which must make you feel better.

Sometimes it's hard with these Outlier cats to figure out what's wrong with them. Poor Figaro had a rotten fang for MONTHS before we realized what was wrong because he's a shy under the furniture kind of guy.

Made me feel like a terrible cat parent.

poor kitty. Yeah soul might be hurting. It's so hard to tell and he's even harder to corral but it's going to have to be done

It is great. We don't have the climate for something like that, alas -- the best we can do is the lovely gardens at the Chinese Cultural Center (I've posted some photos) -- orchid trees are lovely in the spring, but it's just not as beautiful as that one.

Poor Silly.

That might help actually inside the bathroom, but the problem I think might be the cat flap we had to install in the cat bathroom door (to keep the dog OUT)...

I'll have to keep an eye on him.

Make another door without a ledge to it? Or is he too weak to push the door open?

no you don't even come close coolness or wetness wise. Ohio can make a reasonable stab at it. I'm not sure why I never went to Dawes when I lived in Columbus (well it's like 50 miles east but that's not that far)

Poor Soul. I'm glad he's asking for love. Definitely time for the vet.

Dickens peed all over the place when his leg was hurt, but that was mostly because he couldn't get to the litter box and had to go. Then it was because he smelled pee despite the many chemicals I used to clean things. (roll eyes)

Once again, those gardens are gorgeous!

I'm an old pudgy broad. You are, at best, a young pudgy broad.

Less of the old and pudgy, mrs! :D

I remember when my old cat broke his hip, he didn't come home for three days and when he did, it was straight under the furniture. They hide in dark places when they think they're going to die. Sounds like he's acting the jerk because he's in pain, and the fact that he's come out for hugs might mean he's feeling better. Poor boy!

I found a picture that Zog took of you and me during our first trip there.

There was that bear mark, or whatever it was, on that tree, remember?

Sacrifice at the water's edge....

yes i've that picture on a test to illustrate a type of ecosystem

yes I remember that.

it was leftovers in a styrofoam container

snort. how about mid-life (since I'm seriously 20 years away from being in my 20's and 20 years shy of retirement age)

poor old cat. It would be good if it were a physical ailment that might mean there's hope for him.

Date: 2011-07-23 02:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
yeah i might need help corralling him though.

yes I think Soul might be doing what Dickens did

aren't they?

haha, points to my response to [livejournal.com profile] hierath not so young, how about right in the middle?

The water pond needs koi. I think that is a nice photo of you, actually. :)

Soul is inbred, right? Could be a tumor. Yay for some progress. Maybe if he is in pain, that can explain the freak behavior.

Also, YAY for your progress!

Too much consumption of electricity drives the brown outs.

Date: 2011-07-23 04:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
they explained why it didn't. too much other wildlife came for the koi (coons, predatory birds etc) and wrecked the garden

Soul is and yes it could be but today he's back to hiding

yay for my progress indeed

oh yes and as hot as it is, we're a consuming

It would be the ledge, if that's it, since we had to take the actual flap out (insecure Cairo wouldn't go through it with the flap there... yes, we're totally pwned by these guys).

Heee! That's too much fun.

The marks on the tree were very interesting.

OH! I do remember that now.

Well of course we're owned by our furever friends! Just ask them they'll tell you!

Well....how about you redo the door, and make a new entrance for them without a ledge. See if that works.

From: [identity profile] wildrider.livejournal.com
May have to do that, if it keeps up!

Well hon since the cat is old...I doubt it'll get any better. It would be the kindest act you could do for him at this stage...re-doing the doorway for him.

Date: 2011-07-26 02:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wildrider.livejournal.com
Well, YES -- but Silly has proven stranger than most when it comes to these things you'd think were caused by his age -- like when he started originally pooping outside of the box, and then abruptly stopped doing so for no apparent reason. Like when he took up sleeping on the bathroom rug all night instead of on the desk... and then changing back to his usual habits. Every time we think he's on his last legs and this is it, he will rally and be a kitten again.

There's a reason I call him "the Once and Future Cat."

But I will be keeping an eye on him! :)
