Awards and Ficathons
Jan. 10th, 2005 01:39 amYes just because I posted about NOT doing any ficathons any more, Leni comes up with her CYA ficathon round three. This is one you most definitely want to think about because it IS special. You list your strengths, weaknesses and interests as a writer and when the thing kicks off you get to peruse all the replies and pick your top few choices and Leni assigns based on that. Why is this so special? This way you KNOW the person shares your interests for a character that way if you want Spaith (which I forgot to add to my list of pairing's I'll write) and you see another Spaith writer you can at least try for them. (unlike if this was a Spike generalist ficathon and you get selected to do Spara or something yuo can't do). Trust me it's fun.
Then ELD puts up info on the Redux-Remix and rather than reexplain it all just follow the link since ELD has up all the pertain info. What makes this special? It's HARD. You get assigned to rewrite someone else's story (check out my Mirrors of the Soul for an example) from another character's pov. It's harder than it sounds. The only trouble I had was, I can't remember if they allow you to put in what you are and aren't interested in because the person I was remixing is about 80% slash which left me little choices which was the only thing I didn't care for but that's the luck of the draw I guess.
And on the rewards. I won two runner ups from the Holding My Hand awards. They're going to be combined with another award site into a new award site but I don't have that info yet.
I won runner up for best NC-17 for A Storm of Roses - you know this one, it's the one with the KINK warning. Connor, art students, gypsy girlfriend, unexpected visit from Dad.
And runner up for angst for Memory of a Lost Paradise - Does this box of Crayons story even need introducing again. Buffy, Connor, little Sorcha and a stubborn ass Angel.
