cornerofmadness: (summer sucks)

Hey look Happy Post. Every time The Chopra center offers a free meditation challenge, I take it because I'm cheap and if it's not a class like setting, I admit it, I slip. I shouldn't. Today was day one and in fifteen minutes of meditating I felt so much better. I try to keep it up and in 2010 I did it for a year then my surgery came I started slipping and now I admit it, I lapse every time. I have poor self control.

It feels good to feel good. I've been stressed as you know and I haven't mentioned it but I'm having a flare up of my PCOS My period was late then miraculously it started a week before my trip...and because of the PCOS, it lasted over two weeks, the ENTIRE trip. Oh it was a light flow and not troublesome, just annoying but then the day I landed back in the States it stopped like some big fuck you

Points to icon. That says it all. The sun was horribly bright and it was as humid as FL out there today. Then it RAINED just as I wanted to leave the office. Speaking of the office the weekend rain came through the ceiling but by some miracle it missed the desk and the new computer and the book shelves so good. That was luck.

Nielsen (as in Nielsen ratings) called me over the weekend and want me to do another survey for them. whee.

I'm catching up with Casshern Sins along with Deadman Wonderland. WTF is this even about? It's like low rent animators want to do fight scenes with no real storyline other than he killed the sun called Moon (Huh? seriously?). Also is it humanyly possible to even follow Bleach anymore?

Also the cats agree with me summer sucks. They are lying like the dead being very LOOOOOONG and making me step over them because it takes too much energy to move. We're lucky I'm still clothed typing this because I'd really like to be naked right now. And on that image, I'll leave you

Casshern Sins hasn't quite grabbed hold of me yet. I've caught a few episodes, but I haven't seen enough to really grasp it's storyline yet. Though by the sound of it, I'm not missing out on much?

I stopped taping Cashhern Sins. I really tried to keep up with it, I really did. Someone tried to say it was like Mushishi. BULLSHIT. Deadman Wonderland on the other hand, I LOVE IT. Yeah, Bleach is in its WTF is this shit? arc XD

So far, I'm not impressed with Toonami's lineup. All that suckage when the only decent part of it is FMA and Deadman. And imagine my tears when they announced they won't air InuYasha the Final Act T____T

The original story was tons of fun angst, so I'm very disappointed in this reboot.

Mmmm, free meditation class. Mmmmm. You should do daily meditation.

I stepped outside this morning and took a gasp, because not only did it feel like Florida (all hot and damp), the sky was like a Florida sky, all dark blue and full of white fluffy clouds. And then they went dark grey, and converged, and blew out of the area before it rained, just leaving the humidity behind. Stupid clouds.

Cool for being another Neilson family!

Gods, you sound SO like me with the meditation thing. I have the hardest time making myself do it, remembering to do it, and focusing when I do actually do it -- but when I DO really do it and stick with it, it does make a difference. (Although I more found it made a mental difference than a physical one - I'd probably be more motivated to stick with it if it had actually made me hurt less.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has that reaction to Casshern. I've got six episodes saved on the Tivo right now because it really kind of lost me by about the third episode. Deadman is such an intriguing concept, I'm willing to put up with the fact that it's depressing as hell and rather gory. It is incredibly well done, and does keep me coming back for more -- whereas Casshern is just fucking grim and dismal and weird - at least so far.

And I agree with sonjajade- I was so excited when I saw they were resurrecting Toonami, "finally, more anime!" I thought - but honestly, couldn't they do better than this? Sheeeesh. With all the anime out there, and this is the best they can come up with? And, I mean, I love Cowboy Bebop, but how many times do we have to see it? Same thing with GITS, really.

i'm slowly catching up but it's boring, really. Casshern whines a lot, boo hoos some, then we have bad art and one or two plot threads then fight scenes. every. episode.

So the manga's worth checking out?

oh good, so I'm not alone on the messing up the meditation thing. That makes me feel a little better actually, less like a ding dong.

Casshern is just weird. Boring and weird. And the art blows. I think these are the same artists that cropped up in some of the worst episodes of Saiyuki's original run. It is dismal and frankly dumb. How is anything surviving if there's no food or anything? How do we even get sibling robots? What's that about?

Deadman I think is very good, yes depressing and gory and probably will not have a happy ending and frankly while I liked Greg as Goku, he's annoying the shit out of me as Ganta's VA.

and yes I had the same reaction. YAY Toonami. YAY FINALLY cartoons are back on CN instead of live action horrid, foul 'comedies'. and WTF? Really? Casshern is the best we can do? THere are SO MANY animes out there. We could have one a night every night.

I think the original was an anime but I'm not sure. I have a live action casshern i've never watched that I got at a video store closing.

ELD would know for sure. she liked the original

I try and I will for the next 21 days then i'll forget again.

that's exactly what it did here too. I don't wanna live in FL no more.

it is cool

yeah this is just confusing angst mixed with bad art and boredom

The original Saiyuki wasn't as funky as Casshern - it was not as good as Reload, but not nearly as AstroBoy-esque as Casshern is. It's almost like they are being intentionally primitive-anime-style or something. It just doesn't work, though - especially for something that dark and sci-fi. And as you say, the plot leaves much to be desired, as well.

I don't blame you. I think at this point I'm just seeing Casshern thru to the end (I mean it can't be that long can it??). Like Mushishi? In what dreamworld? It's just dull.

Yes I do love Deadman Wonderland but you're right, wil SO MANY anime out there, wtf is up with this piss poor line up. I love FMA but we've seen it through twice now. Bleach has gotten so weird I don't know where to begin.

I'm actually not an InuYasaha fan so I won't miss that but half my flist is surely in tears over that. With all the anime out there, older and new, why are we limited to just one night a week and subjected to shit, vulgar liveaction comedies the rest of the time?

a few episodes were though, it was like they had given the janitor in the building the job of doing it but yeah nothing is so old school looking as Casshern. I'm HOPING they're intetionally being this primitive anime style but you're right it doesn't work

the plot is senseless. how do you kill a sun? which sounds like the sun was a woman

AND with all the anime old and new, why do we have 1 block of crap anime that repeats itself? I hate that, I wanna see a whole night of anime, no repeated episodes in one night. grrr...

I hear though that if you stay tuned in, even if you don't watch, it ups the ratings and rating = money, which = ability to buy better series. Maybe I better start taping cashhern again just for that reason alone lol

I don't know. I was unaware that a manga had been done. If it's based on the original series (because I'm pretty sure Tatsunoko Pro came up with the idea for the storyline, based on what Casshern looked like in the original anime), it might be good. Or absolutely crack hysterical, if nothing else. But if it's based on this series, well, the two are...rather different.

Pfft. Supposedly, if you do something for 21 days, it becomes a HABIT.

It's supposed to be nasty hot here again today. *whine*

Though still, hearing Casshern screaming out, "Swanny! Swanny!" just led to bad renditions of, "How I love ya, how I love ya!" by [livejournal.com profile] x_expat and me.

I can't meditate. I have to count to make myself focus. It's pathetic. My brain goes from "relax" to "OMG! LOOK! A squirrel!" in one tenth of a second. :S I don't have ADHD, I don't, I don't, I - ooo... look, I got a shout on my FA page...

What were we talking about?

Here is my "Cat is in heat" icon for you. It's from a comic strip called "Tundra".

Yeah, I'm like rain_oubliette with the meditating. Just can't seem to do it.

It's supposed to be very hot here today, but it wasn't too bad when I left for work this morning. That won't last long, though.

I don't mind so much that it repeats in the wee hours in the morning (just in case I need to record two things at once which I can not do) but yes, they need to have more than 3 new shows

I am never sure HOW they know who is tuned in or not, seriously.

that's the point of the 21 day challenge, 21 days = habit. Just not in MY case.

it is nasty hot. Can I teach in the nude?

that icon is hysterical

it took me a long time and honestly it took the guided meditations that the chopra centre offers to get me to do it (which is kinda embarrassing but at least I'm not putting more money in Deepka Chopra's pockets)

it was miserable here this morning. My cats are convinced they're melting
