Campus bookstores fuck up ALL the time! At our bookstore, if there's an eff-up, and the order's as skeevy as yours (different signatures, etc.), the bookstore accepts the book back for full price.
(Of course, we're a public college, so we have to answer to the taxpayers....)
Is there any way the students can use an e-book? Or...that a couple of copies of the text can be placed on reserve in the library until the correct book order arrives? I had a similar problem awhile back, and my rep sent over library copies until the book orders came in...and she did it STAT!
Also: let the students know that it's the bookstore's error...they hate the bookstores already, so you 'll have an ally with them.....
