Alienware computers are simply put, gaming machines. They are what you get when you want to play MMORPGs on the best settings to get all the pretty pretties and no lag. As such, they are expensive as hell. If you don't plan on dabbling into such things then just a regular desktop would work for you. If you watch netflix or hulu on your computer though look for one with a bit more oomph to it mainly more ram, it will make streaming the movies and shows smoother.
