Writerly Ways (a wee bit early)
Mar. 16th, 2013 11:30 pmAnd a happy St Patrick's day.
This came over from Writers' Digest and it made me laugh Rejection Bingo. Okay it's been a while since I've had a paper rejection letter but I've had some of these, especially the 'don't get my name right' ones, form letters (which still go for the e-rejects) and more than one where I was ridiculed by the editor for wasting their time and I should know they don't take 'insert classic trope' when my story was NOT one about that troupe (like the we hate werewolves rant from a very prominent horror magazine. There wasn't a werewolf anywhere near my story). In fact that horror magazine was well known for the vitriol of the editor and eventually I no longer submitted there OR read it.
That aside, rejection is part of writing. It's not pleasant but you know it's going to happen. I guess it's on my mind as I get closer to getting Kept Tears done. I actually think that it will be accepted but I always have to be prepared for rejection. It's a hard thing, readying yourself for that but I'll try (though I have to admit, given some of the things I've read recently from the two houses I'm considering, I would be surprised and probably depressed if they said no and yes, that's me being arrogant).
And while I'm on the topic of submission, I would like to submit 2 novels this year. I'm more than half way thru last year's nano (and this years camp nano), another of Temple, Caleb and Agni's tales. I would love to find a first reader for this (maybe in exchange for the same sort of service on their work). If you're interested in a chapter by chapter look at 1930's demon hunters let me know
Declutter day 54 items tossed -3 packets of seeds why kept -Going to plant why tossed- One was empty?! And two weren’t labeled (self harvested). I knew there pumpkin or squash but I have so many of those so bye bye
