Labor Day random thoughts
Sep. 2nd, 2013 10:48 pmNaturally being a professor, I didn't have to work since we get off most every holiday you care to name. Kanda was NOT pleased by this. He made an effort to be in the opposite room. If I came into the computer room, he went into the living room and vice versa. Snot.
I did very little other than play hidden object games, write some, grade and work on a lecture.
I think I posted it here (or maybe FB) months ago, a bedroom looking into an aquarium. I finally found what it is, an underwater hotel Well since the story I wanted for is set in the distant future, Aneurin, rich as he is, has this bedroom. Only bigger, or should I say deeper. It unnerves Kaleo who thinks the fish are watching their lovemaking especially some octopus.
So my friend from h.s. FH has dedicated himself to a year of living awesomely. That's too ambitious for an Eeyore like me so I've decided to have an Awesome Autumn and try to DO stuff. Case in point someone asked me to go to the comic con in Columbus in a couple weeks. I want to do that. I wanted to do cosplay but I have very little other than my Madame Christmas thing which I doubt will be recognizeable outside of an anime con. I also am lazy and there is very little time so I said okay how about Jedi robes since Think Geek is having a 20% off labor day sale. NINETY dollars? Are you out of your ever loving mind?
I moved on to ST Pajamas since well 40$ isn't out of line for PJs and hey I could run around the con in PJs! How comfy is that? (well if I had the robe, I could put the hood up and not even do my hair...) They have every size but plus sizes because they're sold out. Have they not noticed a link between geekdom and overweight??? Sigh. Maybe I'll just buy the Han Shot First shirt and be done with it
Have I mentioned I have Ron Weasley in my nursing Anatomy class? I do. He's not just a ginger. He seriously resembles Rupert Grint to the point I'd think they're related if I saw them on the street. I'm waiting for me to slip up and call him Ron and everyone will know WHY I called him that....
declutter day 120 item tossed -A cardboard box why kept -Filled with old magazines why tossed -No one needs 15 year old medical journals. God, I keep throwing my old life away.

Date: 2013-09-03 03:01 am (UTC)But I really wanted the TARDIS bathrobe, and that, like the Jedi robe, is too freakin' expensive (and I never seem to have enough Geek points).
They do have 4th Doctor, 10th Doctor, and 11th Doctor cosplay T-shirts, though.
Gad, I wish we'd get the money to go to a convention again.

Date: 2013-09-03 03:24 am (UTC)there you go. At least the t-shirts are affordable.
that's it, isn't it, 40$ to get into the con for me to spend money I don't have

Date: 2013-09-03 03:26 am (UTC)Watch, it's the same weekend as my sisters' birthday(s).
Rogue thinks it's hot enough to lie on her back and twitch her paws in the air.
I like F's idea about living awesomely.

Date: 2013-09-03 03:57 am (UTC)I have an 11th Doctor one. :) (I'm totally addicted to t-shirts... I have more than any five geeks should have.)
That is the thing about Cons, it's the expense. (Besides, I think Barb really doesn't want to go to them anymore; otherwise, we probably would come up with some way to get to one.)

Date: 2013-09-03 04:05 am (UTC)it is. At least the anime cons are slightly less expensive. what is bothering me about it is that now it's not enough to pay your fee, they're selling autographs. Stan Lee was asking 100$ last I heard. bite me

Date: 2013-09-03 05:08 pm (UTC)For that, week before last I was watching Good Morning America and freaking Lady Gaga was just signing random autographs for anyone who handed her something to sign -- no money, no fuss, no hiding from her fans, just greeting and being genuine. I decided I liked her right then.
Speaking of anime cons and your Madame Christmas costume, I keep meaning to tell you that one of our new temps LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE HER. Every time I see her I think about your icon! :)
Actually...
