These Dreams

I can not remember the dream that woke me at 5 AM. Or should I say nightmare. I woke up flailing about, heart thundering thinking thanks for that adrenaline shot brain, you ASS.

The one that woke me later in the morning was odd. I was with my best friend from college, SA and her husband and kids in my parents' basement. (my parents' basement is the size of the house AND one half is a finished game room and behind the door is the work shop and laundry room. I was in that part.) SA had brought with her a handful of kittens that we were cooing over. Then everyone but me was gone and it wasn't just kittens there were a few fat puppies with them but they were going everywhere I was trying to round them up.

I went into the laundry room chasing two kittens, one a tabby and one a fluffy ginger. Both had ribbon tied too tight around their limbs and I was trying to free them. As I tried that, I spotted one drowning in a puddle near the drier, only it wasn't a kitten, it's a baby elephant the size of kitten and it was emerald green. There were two other baby elephants, one blue and one purple, standing at the edge of the puddle. By the time I got the ribbon off the elephant it wasn't moving so I gave it mouth to trunk resusitation and when it started moving again, i started chasing down the two endangered kittens.

Only to realize the door to the basement was left open. I found three kittens lodged inside a decorative birdhouse near the bar. And then there were puppies and kittens literally everywhere. I had twelve in my arms in the upstairs bathroom and there were more. I was begging mom, dad and SA to help me while apologizing for letting them out of the basement (and thinking but I didn't even touch the door. They must have done when they left me).

Yeah so what was that all about brain?

You have too many plates in the air (commitments), some of them are creative (unnaturally colored miniature elephants), others are work and Real Life (puppies and kittens--especially the kittens because the stray momma cat is expecting again and you feel a need to do something for her/the kittens). They're all in danger because you're afraid of not being able to properly juggle so many responsibilities without dropping (neglecting or forgetting) some of them, with possibly dire consequences. In other words, classic stress dream. That's my guess, anyway.

I will not argue with that analysis. The one i woke up fighting from was definitely a stress dream. (also it's getting close to that time of the month and I've noticed as the estrogen goes up the brain goes nuts)
