Went to a coworker's award dinner tonight. It's the excellence in scholarship and KL is our resident sculptor. I really like his work. I almost didn't go because i wanted to get laundry done and get food before the ice storm hits. But I was at work so long it didn't make sense to not go.

Lots of yummy appetizers. I don't know where they get their pita chips but they're huge and delicious as is the artichoke/parmesan dip that goes on it. They had a strange thing a 'maple glazed apple rumaki' which was basically a little apple turner wrapped in bacon. It was good. I loved the fresh fruit too. It was a nice night.

I needed it because the day was shit. My sugar was SO high all day. I'm so weary and weak from this and this is the first time my period has really taken it out of me. I've heard women complain about being tired from theirs for years but this was the first time I've ever really felt that way.

And I was late to work because of a mishap. I just opened a 2lb 32 oz yogurt (I mix plain with my own fruity add ins to keep the sugar down). Went to put it back and DROPPED it. Yogurt bukakae. It was EVERYWHERE. In the fridge, on the fridge, on the walls, on the chairs, a half pound of it on the floor, under the table in the furnace grating. If I had mom's old cat I wouldn't have had to clean. Rogue would have just eaten it for me. Kanda was not so inclined. Dropped my keys at work and they zoomed down the hall. Attended a webinar that was 30 minutes longer than it was supposed to be because they had technical issues.

got a call when i got home that I had won something from the library's mystery date with a book drawing. I wonder what it could be.

the rest can bite me.

With my luck it's a book.

Maggie and Barb say that at least you didn't drop the 2-pound tub of yogurt on your foot and break more toes or something....

I forget what rumaki usually has in it (bacon-wrapped is standard... but I'm thinking it's normally a water chestnut or something like that), but it's good. Mostly because, well, bacon.

My very favorite thing to mix in plain yogurt? Peanut butter!

It was a close call on the toes but at least I had my shoes on.

water chestnuts, scallops. Apple pie is a first but it was good

I have never ever tried that. I shall have to. This week was blackberries

Well, apples and bacon are good, so... it does sound wonderful.

I moved from fresh fruit to a spoonful of preserves when I was out of berries, then one day tried a little peanut butter. It was so good I tried other additions (maybe a little granola with it, or a drizzle of honey; or, when feeling REALLY decadent, a small handful of chocolate chips), and it just seems to go really well together.

it was.

hmmm well i do have Peanut butter here. I c an try it. I do like honey in it but of course can only have a wee little of that.

I mix my yogurt with fresh fruit and cereal of sorts.

The dinner sounds yummy. Very yummy. Mmm, pita chips and stuff. MMMM.

See? Elds would've cleaned that mess up in a heartbeat. And then, of course, their beards would've needed cleaning. Oops.

I'm glad you had a good time at the party for your friend!

Awe... *huggles* I hope you feel better today!

XD I've dropped small containers of yogurt & they make a mess, I can just imagine how much more 2lbs would be. ^^; Have you tried vanilla yogurt with fruit? I eat it plain, but it might be good with fruit too. *doesn't like most fruit & what I do like I'm allergic to it*

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
It was a nice time.

My sugar IS about a 100 points lower but now I have a headache so thanks for nothing head.

Actually I'm not a fan of the vanilla flavor but they often add more sugar to that kind unfortunately. Aw, that sucks to be allergic to the few you like. Loves fruits. It's veggies I have trouble eating (I like them too but my stomach does not)

sometimes I put in granola or something but it's more carbs than I need.

dinner was yumy

yes they would have. what i needed is either Rogue the cat or JR the JRT and I'd have been set

Yay! :D

That's good. A headache can be dealt with. A couple of advils, a nap, a cup of tea... :D

I didn't know that. XD I'm not a fan of veggies; I only like a few. I hear you on the stomach part. ^^; Peppers & too much salad will d0o a number on it. XD

I can do 2 out of three. I have a function to attend AND I must shop and do laundry and pray because tomorrow comes 2 inches of ice topped with nearly a foot of snow. WHEE

There is surprising amounts of sugar added all over the place.

Salad is what I miss. It often makes me ill now but I do try to eat it to challenge my stomach (it doesn't digest right but giving it nothing but soft stuff will make it worse)

Right. I won't tell you what I had for breakfast, then.

Dinner sounds yummy.

Rogue the Cat or JR the JRT would've been happy to help, I'm sure. Kanda just doesn't know what's good (for him).

probably for the best.

I forgot to mention the prime rib with horseradish sauce.

Kanda doesn't. He has very little interest in people food unless we're at the grandparents then he begs at the table like he's never been fed in his life.

Oh noes! I need to go food shopping tonight, cuz that storm is heading our way & supposed to get here tomorrow night. XD

It seems like it. o.0

Yeah? It's okay if I eat it out, when it comes with a meal, but I can't eat it every day. It's like fiber overload. ^^; (yeah... & I tend to eat soft & mushhy too as that's what I like. XD)

I'm glad you had fun at the party to make up for the crappy day.

I hope the thing you won is something good.

I did the same major splat thing a few days ago with my morning oatmeal - but I waited until I was over the oriental rug (our nicest one) in the dining room to let it fly. I was not happy. So my sympathies. I've had a lot of those kind of days lately myself.

If you've never tried it, that PB2 dried peanut butter with cocoa is an excellent mix-in with plain greek yogurt - it's so naturally sweet, just the tiniest bit of stevia or whatever you use makes it sweet enough, and the PB/Chocolate taste in the yogurt is amazingly good, and the calorie count is low, protein high. Its only drawback is it's just the tiniest bit gritty, but if you can get used to that, it's worth it - good with frozen yogurt and stuff like that, too, adding to smoothies, even dipping a fresh banana in it. The plain one is ok, but the one with cocoa added is really good.

Hope you're feeling better.

edit: forgot to say, the ONE thing I ever won was a set of the Harvard Classics from our public radio station. Just what I fricking needed. Not like I didn't already have most of them in one form or another.... *sigh*)

I'm sure.

Oh, man. Yum.

Also, we went to a new family Italian restaurant and I had some amazing chicken parm. Yum.

Granma's food's always best.

big yum.

ooo cool. Love Italian food

and apparently while we're at grandma's we no longer have to observe our manners.

Yes, it was pretty good food, too. The cook came out and checked on us three times!

Granma lets us get away with crap we can't get away with at home, doncha know. The elds beg at Granma's house, they don't here.

Ouch to the rug. I dropped the pizza box tonight. whee.

My kroger's just got that dried PB. It's pretty expensive though. I had wondered what to do with it to be honest. That does sound good.

I haven't felt better in some time.

oh geez. I do win things. The most hilarious thing was I won a shopping spree to the sex shop in Madison based on my personal ad!
