cornerofmadnessLife was crazy today but before I get into that let me share this. I'm on Vicktor Alexander’s blog today with a scene from my steampunk mystery If Two of Them Are Dead that you'll see nowhere else.
Mom woke me up at way too early for someone who can't get to sleep and stay there lately. (a bit stressed about going home). I was going to meet![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
katimac8 for lunch but she was unwell (feel better). Good thing because there was a water main break and ALL the restaurants were closed. Sigh. I had SO wanted BW3's curry dipping sauce.
So I didn't do much because I was so tired. I returned the book I found yesterday to the college library. How the hell that librarian knows me is beyond me. I'm only in there like once a semester...
Then I went for my appointment for my jaw. I wasn't even signed in yet when someone came in and said the back of the building was on fire. We thought he was kidding but NO. It was on fire. Luckily it was easily extinguished. I did get to see the dentist who said my retainer should NOT be stressing my front teeth. Since I'm not interested in wearing it on the low stress days in the summer, she's going to replace it in the fall. She did say if I couldn't stand this there is no way I'd withstand what the TMJ guy would have done. Yeah, I believe that. I don't like my mouth messed with.
Then I found out about the water main break so I went ALL the way back to Jackson because I didn't really have food for tonight since I thought I'd be gone. I tried the pub a coworker said was good. Arch and Eddie's Gathering House is in an old home I've always wanted to go into but the original restaurant was 'home cooking' and that is not my thing. It was a mexican place briefly and never open when I looked. I liked Arch and Eddie's. craft beer!!! Lots of it. The Reuben was good too. I liked that they fried up the corned beef BUT it was a bit too thick and chewy. I like wafer thin corned beef. It is not good I know there's a bar with craft beer in easy driving distance.
I got home and was very thankful that I didn't travel today. Kanda had thrown up on the carpet and had diarrhea all over his box. The stench was so bad I thought the septic tank had backed up into my bathroom. He seems okay now. It might be stress. He KNOWS something is happening.
Unlike the post office because even though mom got a notice on her end my mail is being forward, the idiots here delivered to me. Credit card checks none the less. bangs head.
But there IS good news. I got a letter from my doc to tell me that the tumor in my adrenal gland isn't putting out cortisol so yay for that.
This open call for Middle Grade SF sounded really promising. They're looking for female and diverse characters.
And I put a paragraph up of one of my new wips on Terrible Minds' blog challenge for critique and people liked it. That made me happy.
On the other hand someone on Goodreads gave my novella a 2 star review dragging the rating down and I KNEW she would because her GR profile is all about how HIGH her standards are and how she rarely gives good reviews. Then really wtf is the point of reading and reviewing if you hate everything? She did say it was good. Still didn't stop her from hitting the 2 stars. Ah well, but seriously it DOES help (or hurt) authors when you review. Please review.

Date: 2014-06-03 03:46 am (UTC)This happens often in fanfiction too. I know someone on Tumblr who seems to have very high standards on Roy/Riza fanfics. She rarely reviews except for her friends' works and often times on her Tumblr she would say how a lot of Roy/Riza fics are bad. One time when she did a fic recommendation page she said, "these are the authors I trust" and I'm just like... :/

I expect that with my pro stuff but to me, if you're going to say a story is good then you should use the rating for GOOD. (though there are those who get off on giving low reviews, like Bay said, we've seen it in fan fic too and her profile shows that love.
yeah me too. I don't even know how I would have survived the trip if he did that in the car
