Saw the surgeon

My stitches are gone. All but one of the five incision sites are closed. one was gapped and one might go that way so i had them put steristrips on them.

I can ditch the adductor pillow strapped around my belly. YAY!!!! Still need the sling and still passive PT only for 2 weeks then we get aggressive. He added one passive one, push my hand up the wall with the other hand. OMG PAIN! He was thrilled at the flexibility so that's good. He sat down and explained something to me I hadn't heard. NSAIDS interfere with bone/soft tissue healing. So no relafen. I refused teh T3s (tylenol with codeine) so going out to get tylenol. I'm even allowed out the sling for short times. I tried typing two hands. I can bu only if I passively move my hand to the keyboard.

I am not thrilled with this heat and humidity. You all know that but what you might not know is that it's physiologic with me. It causes a form of eczema (dishydrotic) and the skin peels off my hands and feet. It's more annoying than painful. You can see it on the type of one finger and a drastic peel off the middle joint of a finger.

Yay for getting the stitches out. Eczema sucks, but I'm glad the kind I have doesn't peel. It just looks like I have ringworm on my thighs. Ugly to look at, and the skin gets dry, but it doesn't even itch.

I'm going to pm you for the address. I was going it when you originally posted, but then I forgot because your grandmother may be 99, but she probably has more on the ball mentally than me. /facepalm

So happy about the stitches. This doesn't itch much,just peel and catch on things and makes me look like Im a zombie or something.

WOW! I had no idea NSAIDS aren't good when you're trying to heal. Thanks for sharing that.

Mmm, didn't know that about NSAIDS. Maybe I should switch to Tylenol for a while (neck pain).

That looks much better, and I'm sure it feels better to have the stitches out.

I had read that about NSAIDs and healing, so took only Tylenol when I had a broken foot--actually wasn't all that painful, anyway.

if you're dealing with just inflammation like arthritis NSAIDS are good Tylenol has always been my choice. it works for me

thanks. I think that for mild inflammation NSAIDS are still a good choice. it's looking like torn tissues/bone is the problem.

I read that NSAIDs interfere with postglandins, but that may be what makes beneficial inflammation. You'd know more than I do!

antiinflammatories work well if i can tolerate them but usually i can't

the peeling skin is annoying as hell

they do. that is what reduces the inflammationbut i'm guessing it's too good at that since inflammation is paart of wound healing

That's not fun when that happens. I had antibiotics, that made me very ill. I felt worse from that than what I was sick with, so I know that feeling.
