Spring Drabbles

Ugh, it's most definitely not spring like here. We got about two feet of snow in the last three days. But, I could pretend so here's a few spring drabbles for you. All are Pg-13 and as always all rights belong to Mr. Whedon.

 

Willow - 9th grade - Not Part of the In-Crowd

She didn’t know why she trusted them but she had. She had helped Cordy and Harmony and the rest with every aspect of the Spring Dance. She hung streamers. She made computer art flyers. She even collected door to door to help pay for the DJ and in the end what had it matter?

They had only wanted her for her skill. She wasn’t part of their group and once she was used up they tossed her aside. Everyone in the group went to the Dance Decorators dinner but her. No one even asked her to the dance. Willow bawled.

Cordelia - S 1 - Smoke and Mirrors

Spring colors, Harmony had been talking about them for weeks now until Cordelia was ready to cork her mouth. There was only so much talk about pastels one could endure. Cordelia liked spring colors too, the brightness of them, the cheeriness. It made it easier to be her effervescent self.

Sparkling blue, lemony yellow, she could slide those colors on like armor. No one would see past her brilliance to see the dark lonely corners of her heart. No one would see the places spring couldn’t touch, absentee parents that shoveled money instead of love, hollow friends instead of substance.

Xander S 1 - Best Friends

"It’s not the same you know," Xander said. "What fun is spring without you there to help me ogle Cordelia Chase in her newest hookerware dress? Who am I going to go ocean-side with to scout out beach bunnies? Without you there I’d be the last guy picked for the baseball team in gym...well, there is Jonathan I guess, but that’s not the same."

Xander glared at the stone gnome he had buried a picture of Jesse under in his back yard since there would never be a tombstone. "You were my best bud. Spring’s no fun without you."

Buffy S 4 - A Father’s Love

Everyone had gone somewhere for spring break but her. Even Willow and Tara had headed for Los Angeles for a few days. Riley had headed back to Iowa. What was there left for her? Nothing but the unending dance with demons at night. No beach parties. No drinking Mai Tai’s in her bikini.
Buffy slogged back to Giles’ apartment to report in. To her surprise he greeted her with a pina colada wine cooler with a little umbrella in the mouth.

He smiled. "I know it’s no spring break, but I’d like to see you smile."

She did, broadly.

Connor - Post NFA - Making a Point
"Nothing like a little nookie to put a spring in a guy’s step, you know what I mean, Con Man?"
Connor’s eyes flicked over to his roommate. The guy was a pig. "I guess."
"I wouldn’t mind a little of that honey you keep bringing around." Jerry’s eyes gleamed. "She looks like a hot ride."
Connor grinned ferally. He’d love to see that honey’s reaction to that comment as someone knocked on the door.
"Not like you’re getting anywhere with her."
Connor made a point of kissing Faith hard when she came in. "I’ll explain later," he whispered.
Faith just grinned.

Ooh, very nice, all of them. The Willow one made me sniffle (poor Willow!), the Cordy one was a very nice insight into her character, the Xander one had me sniffling again, the Buffy one had me saying, "Awww" out loud and grinning, and the Connor had me laughing.

Great job on all of them!

thanks. I'm so glad. I've so been Willow in that one and so far people are getting the humor in the Connor one which is great. i was afraid that one was weak.

Enjoyed reading all of them...the Connor one had me laughing but I think the Xander one was the one I liked the most, almost made me want to cry.
