How to know you're exhausted

cornerofmadnessI've only been sleeping 3-4 hours a night (I usually sleep about 6) but I haven't felt tired. However, my brain is. I got home from the last final, graded some of it and then got ready to go to the writers' group meeting in Athens. I was in my living room trying to figure out why my coat felt weird before I left then realized I wasn't wearing a shirt. The smart thing would have been to stay home but I went with 'fuck it' and headed out.
I managed to get there and not fall asleep in my schezwan bean curd. Then I had to drive around and around the meet up trying to find a place to park and there was a big carol sing at the courthouse (I passed it about a half dozen times) then ended up at a new round about and I was like WTF? DId I fall asleep? No. And why does this exist? I can't imagine anyplace less needing of this and it's TINY like it's made for bikes. Finally I say fuck it and parked a few blocks away. when I get to the meet up I realize I a) forgot my flashdrive at home b) forgot my book in the car that I wanted to give to someone c) forgot to charge my phone AND tablet d) forgot my headphones in the car and I was not going back. However, ten cups of coffee and some asthma inhaler (needed after walking that far up hill) woke me up. I had the reflexes of cheetah coming home and needed them because the stag of the forest meandered out to the side of the road. All I could think was if I hit you and don't die, I'm totally eating you.
Kanda ended up in the garage today because he was too nebby about what mom was doing in there (going through Christmas boxes). Then he didn't want to come out.
