I think I've graded all the things. I can't be sure but I think so.

I've addressed everything and it should go out on Monday to those looking for cards from me. If you want a card or a holiday story you can find my links for that here

Speaking of stories, I need to get moving on [livejournal.com profile] fmagiftexchange I'm still in original fic mode and haven't snapped back into fandom yet. If you want to write ME a story or icon something etc, you can find my [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking here Just click on the most popular tags sidebar on the main page to see the dozens of tags and make other people happy too.

Okay I really like this house (i hate the road but I love the house) here It's sadly a bit too far from Athens but seriously, this is a nice house.

maybe I should rethink Pomeroy my kitchen is a JOKE and cars overturn on me all the time but I'm CHEAP.

I’m even cheaper but I have a kitchen and beautiful old interiors....but I look like I should be burnt down judging by the outside...

Actually this might be a contender river view baby. Okay [livejournal.com profile] sonjajade explain to me WTF is going on in that hot pink room. Did the TARDIS explode the 60s into it or what?

I bring you much music for advent.

thanks to ES for this one.

fun parody son

and here is one for Roy, Ed and Ling (and Hohenheim) to keep in mind.

The pink room is worse than the murder room in the other weird house.

Yay for grading and addressing! I need to do the latter.

I google earthed it. It's no longer a contender. It's RIGHT ON the river. fuck that. The Ohio is a flooder.

I need to address the gifts

38 Lincoln Hill... that is priced really, really low for such a neat old house (original floors, unpainted trim and glass doors!)... I wonder what is wrong with it? is that a flood area or a bad neighborhood maybe? it's kitchen is also made of tears ;)

ditto the one on vale, but it appears to have some growing structural problems (but the inside actually looks pretty good - except for the "updates")

Not even a few feet up? Sigh.

I have gifts to wrap. I'm glad I found the weird Mammy. I wasn't sure where I'd put her.

well it is up several feet but with the Ohio that's not enough. Not nearly enough.

I haven't wrapped a single thing. I couldn't find the polish I got for Jenn until last weekend when my laundry bag went missing (it still is) and I tore up everything. it was in a little bag in my closet inside another bag....WTF

Part of the problem with both homes is Pomeroy was a port city that is now 75 years + past its hey day. There is next to no commerce. Yes it has music festivals etc and has one outrageously overpriced tex-mex place but that's it. It's 20 miles to Athens. It's 20 miles to work which for me would be a nice mid-point but I'm not even sure there are grocery stores any more.

And yes it FLOODS. I can a mansion there in my price range.

LOVED your vids!

I would have graded all the things, but I have to call two of them about plagiarism :-( even AFTER I gave them a chance to correct it. Teaching English sucks.

But your video of singing animals made it all feel much better.

Yikes... 20 miles to amenities is a pain. That's how we were living before our move. 20 years of that was 15 yrs too many

Hahaha, I bought Jenn some nail polish, too - is the bottle skull shaped? That's why I grabbed the polish for her.

Yes it is. Did we both buy the gunmetal black/grey one??

I don't mind it. I'm 80 miles to a mall. I just don't like foodland. I've gotten accustomed to the selection of Krogers which is vast and varied and not from 1950 like foodland (guess what Pomeroy has)

Teaching science is no better. I didn't call anyone this time for plagiarism but a couple were close. Guarantee if I asked them what some of the words in their paper were about, they'd have no idea.

glad the animals helped

I loved one of them today--I asked why she did it (I learned guild-inducement from my mother, if you're wondering) and she said, "My sister must have stuck that in." After signing something early in the semester saying she understood that she could get help only from me and approved tutors in our center.

Mind you they had no quotes or anything. I caught one when they were talking about heat-shock proteins which is graduate level molecular studies that I knew they didn't have the first clue about

Yes--I had Marxism and alienation in Kafka in the same paragraph with social isolation and anti-Semitism. Not that those couldn't be tied together, but since this student didn't know what any of them were, not much chance of his doing that.

all they had out in china was 2 convenience stores (one of the which tried to pass itself off as a "small grocery store", but when a 4 pack of toilet paper costs $8, you're a convenience store) attached to the two gas stations we had out there. and we only had those because we were right off of hwy 90

House #1 (I feel like I'm on the dating game: Bachelor #1!)- the outside of this house is really sharp in comparison to the others. That kitchen is in desperate need of a makeover though. Did you see that ANCIENT OVEN?? and it that a plumbing pipe attached to the dishwasher as a handle?? ugg dem cabinets tho... and what's with all the damn paneling? Also that one cinder block bathroom made me think of a public park restroom.

House #2- The outside looks alright, maybe invest in vinyl siding. Otherwise it's a nice example of a craftsman style house. MOST DEFINITELY needs a kitchen remodel. Depending on what's on the other side of that wall backing the stove, you might could knock that wall down. It's got some real potential to be a really cute house, paint is cheap and makes such a huge difference. It would've been nice to see more pics without that annoying fish-eye lens though. Nice price for what you'd have to do to it. That road IS terribly close to the house though.

House #3- actually, even with the awkward photography (yes let's put up a pic of an upended bed frame in the room...) is my favorite. The outside... Nothing some vinyl siding couldn't help immensely, but that one door where it looks like they stuck it in the middle of a window, you might want to rework that. But with the money you'd be saving, you could do that no problem! I loved the little 3 stairs to a door in both that one room and in the kitchen, the exposed beams and half paneling could really be nice, as I said, paint can do WONDERS. It's got character and charm- I say get that one, burn the garage down (seriously EWW) get some replacement windows and doors and vinyl siding, put actual tile on the backsplash in the kitchen and call it a day. That's my favorite one.

House #4: The view is GREAT! I don't like the exterior AT ALL. The yard's a mess, the front of the house just looks worn out- might just need paint and landscaping. The interior looks really nice and mostly new! That pink room- get a black light and I'll send you a disco ball and you could have a 60's party flop room XD I'm assuming that worn out vanity in what I guess is a basement must be the laundry room. Fix that up too.

House #3 gets my vote. The animals singing vid was cute!! Never heard of Abney Park before, but that song nails those relationships nicely.

So many of these place need SO MUCH work. That's the story of this place. It's POOR. The expensive places are actually 20 year old double wides (thanks no. Maybe if it were new but at 20 years they begin to fall to pieces)

but yes the disco ball would go in that pink room.

I think I'll keep looking.

I love Abney Park and yes, She is a perfect FMA song

have you looked into land and putting a new prefab home on it? At the state fair they always put up a model home in the vendor section and some of them are SPECTACULAR for the price. They can even dig out a basement to anchor them to so you have a safe place to go when a twister comes through.

I agree, keep looking.

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
Yep. It's so unafforable you can't believe it. All told it would be close to 200K by the time you buy the prefab (most start at 100K now), the land plus putting in all the utilites all for a house that loses value the moment its put up.
