So today was lost to the Airship Athena's Yule steampunk Christmas Dinner at the the Hocking lodge in the Hocking Hills. It's a beautiful setting. It's amazing how at home I feel in the woods. Most of the tension had left me (looking on line fixed that in the wrong direction just now...)

Since this was a good hour away from me on very windy back roads and I knew if I left on time someone would go 25 mph, I went early (and yes someone was panicking. It's like you have eight cars stacked up, pull the hell over until you learn to drive) But I did make it a little early actually.

It mostly seemed to be the core group (and me) which I'm sure had something to do with having to pay for your meal. I have to say I HATE being the person who only shows for parties but never the planning. We all know that person. There's one in every group so I did get to talk to the two leaders and tell them why (i.e. they do the meetings in Nelsonville which is about 60 miles one way for me).

The food was very good. I don't like pork loin but they had a smoked one that was fork tender and it was good but the star for me was the mac and cheese chocked full of smoked brisket.

The lodge had a gift store/local artist show that I'll have to hit up next year. We scoped the place out for a bigger party in the future. It's a good venue but I do forsee one problem. If it's just our airship, it will be fine but if we're inviting others, it's way out in the boonies and there are plenty of cabin getaways for people to stay in (if they aren't lost in the hills) but they are very expensive (I had thought of going there one spring break just to be alone and at peace in the woods but the price staggered me).

We played crochet with steampipe wickets and nerf target practice (I think I stunned a few people by taking out the three targets in three shots.)

No one's put up a photo of me yet but here's some of mine. We were all taken with Father Christmas and his wife (they are crazy talented. He won best in show costume at the gala in the fall).

I had to look up this recipe to explain to ELD what ladylocks are. This is more or less the same as my grandma's recipe though the filling is a tad different. I think this one sounds good.

And I had no idea Abney Park had a holiday album so for advent have a little steampunk holiday music.
