The house looks SOOOO empty

It's amazing. Christmas decorations were up barely a month but now without them the house seems empty and soulless, like a museum or mausoleum. Of course, downstairs its still Christmas because it'll take at least another day or two to get it all put away.

And I leave in a few days. It was 60 today. Now it's 35 (and my body is SCREAMING over the huge drop) and the day I'm to go home, it's going to be 10 and 3 at night. Oh well then.

I also slipped on the stairs carrying Christmas crap and landed on my bad shoulder. Can't wait to explain that to the surgeon on tuesday.

All I did was undecorate and shop for Mom who is feeling a bit better so here have some stuff

How about two original stories I did for 12_daysofficmas (and explain to me why I wasn't smart enough to put my stories here and just link to them???) They're both in the Kept Tears universe so I hope you'll read and enjoy them.

1.) Divergent or Hunger Games?

Honestly, neither. I’ve read both of them and I just don’t get the attraction. Hunger Games has been done before (ditto Divergent) but if I had to chose, Hunger Games. At least I got through the first book.


2.) Why the heck are you still living in Ohio?

There are next to no jobs in my field anywhere. I would love to move somewhere colder but I’m pretty well trapped. I do keep checking the job board. The perfect one will show up the moment I buy a house.

3.) What's your pet peeve about other people's bad writing?

Things that could have been easily fixed but weren’t, things that spellcheck could have gotten for example. That and if it’s fanfic, writing characters OOC, especially if it’s to justify some non-canon ship.

4.) What are you reading right now?

The Dark of the moon by John Sanderson, a mystery and Night Head, a manga.

5.) What was the first pet you had?

Shawn, a very dumb Irish Setter (but sweet) and Cupid, a talking parakeet.

I hate OOCness especially as I said in order to justify the non-canon pairing, ESPECIALLY if it includes bashing of the canon love interest (witness the Winry bashing with some Roy/Ed shippers, not all, mind you but I saw it a lot . Saw it tons with Buffy too)

I always miss the holiday lights and wish everyone would be like tavern on the green (and places like that) and just keep them up all year. why do we have to be so un-festive the rest of the year? I love trees covered and dripping with lights. if we had a power outlet in the back, i'd have lights up year round.

we tried the solar ones out in china, and they were so dim. they are more like... nightlights? but they come with a lot of placement convenience and less guilt so I may try them again in the future (I just wish they weren't so pricey)

*nods* Yeah, same here. I know I did for a a Sessh/Kags fic, where he killed, cuz, a) it was supposed to be a death!fic, b) that pairing is as far from canon as you'd get, yet I have seen fans of it swear it's CANON (makes me wonder if they ever read the manga or watched the anime XD), c) it was supposed to be a dig at the fans of it. ;p And I know I often "bash" Prussia, even though I love him., like Soma with Ciel, there are characters that think he's an idiot, so they'll refer to him as such, or treat him like one. But to write a story purposely making a character this awful person when they're not,especially if they're love interest of a fave character, is just dumb.

Oh geez.

I think the closest I've gotten is bumping off Mei in Fullmetal Alchemist a lot (that is one canon pairing I dislike) and Fred on Angel because she annoyed me. But yeah usually I remove them from the story as opposed to makingvthem out as idiots or having the characters mocking them.

Yeah? It depends on the fic. If I'm writing about Ciel & Soma, he invariable ends up calling him an idiot, cuz that's the nature of their relationship. To do otherwise, feels too OOC. Same with some Hetalia characters, or even when I used to write scenes with Renkotsu & Jakotsu, Ren's dislike/barely tolerates Jak comes trough & will come through if he's complaining about Jak to someone else. Those are characters I like,: Soma, Jakotsu, Prussia (who's supposed to be annoying & derpy), it's normal for other characters to be less than thrilled to be with them or talk about them in any other way.

...I'm getting back to people's answers. I can SO relate to your writing pet peeves. I HATE IT when someone writes someone out of character for NO REASON. Also, when they kill someone for no reason--aaarrrggghhh!!!

And...know how you felt about Divergent and Hunger Games? That's how I feel about living someplace colder. I just don't get it.

But to each his own, I guess. :D

Yeah that does drive me crazy, the out of character (I'm more or less okay with character death if it makes sense to the story)

Hahaha, don't worry. My brother is with you. And where you're at, that's my idea of where I'll end up if I don't make it into heaven. The only part of the Southwest I'll touch is Vegas and even then I hate everything about it but the Strip. I'm not made for weather about 70 degrees.
