So it warmed up just a tiny bit this morning just enough to rain. Freezing rain. Did they cancel school? Screw that. Get in here. Half way there there's a guy going TOO slow (caution yes, horse and buggy slow with no lights in your grey SUV, no) and the salt truck spun out trying to get around him. It's at this point I hear it's a level 2 snow emergency but I'm committed. Do or die. I get there and I'm walking up with students and one is telling me about a bizarre wreck she stopped and tried to help (car still running on its side...no one there) and I'm thinking WHY am I going up the sidewalk. I walk out on the textured grass and the students go 'wow that's smart.' Yep, that's why I make the big bucks.

THEN it heats up to the mid-50s and the winds were so strong I was skidded off to the edge of the road three times and now it's going to snow. Brilliant Mother Nature. Take a bow.

I have lost my muse. I'm finding this very disturbing. I've not written much of anything in weeks. Soon I won't have time to write. I feel like I'm getting in my own way. It doesn't help I have no reading outlet either. The downside (for me) of winning Goodreads giveaways is that I feel I MUST finish it and I have a popular YA right now and this time I mean it. No. More. Dystopias. Red Rising in the first 50 pages is so terribly predictable and boring. How is this SO popular?

Mom sent me a bunch of houses to look at. Maybe I'll link them tomorrow. They all look like trailers. Dad tried to help then gave up and sent me job ads and said 'get out of there.'

I would like to because the rodent is building it's nest in the ductwork again. Today there is fiberglass all through both bedrooms. I've picked parts of the nest out of the grates FIVE times since 5 o'clock. I itch all over from the fiberglass. It's in my lungs, eyes and hair and now I have to sleep in a room that could have another blow out (because I can't sleep on my couch forever). Landlord has NO interest in fixing this. I think I'll mention that it's stripping this fiberglass from his PIPES. If they burst it's not MY problem. Go close off the mother fucking ductwork from the damn raccoon/opposum. IT's too big for a mouse. I can hear it sometimes and I jump up and down by the grates and it runs.

One day, I promise, I'll have a happy post. Pray it's tomorrow because that's the day I go to see if diabetes is making me bleed into the back of my eyes.

good lord... glad you made it there and back safely

is there any way you can stuff a rag or otherwise close off that vent over your bed for the time being? I would even contemplate putting out bait poison in the vent before closing it off - I hate doing that but ya gotta do what ya got do

Your creature problem. And your school problem. I like your Dad's solution, but we both know how that goes.

Smart, walking on the grass. :D

I don't think there's a Campus below the 41st parallel that plows parking lots and walkways properly. Seriously. They just don't know how to come to grips with snow.

You're talking to the Queen of Writing Blocks. I retired, then started to do a family genealogy and lost my muse. (as you know, since I have been whining about it for the last 2-3 weeks.)

ITA with Dad: get out of there!!! Stat!!

::hugs::

Have a good day, go safely, and know you're loved.

I'm glad you made it back and forth safely. Crazy weather indeed.

I am trying to think of a solution for Mr. Rodent but unfortunately I got nothing.

Here's crossing fingers on your diabetes check-up tomorrow.

*MEGA HUGGLES*

*wonders if your rodent is more squirrel than mouse* What we thought were mice in the attic was a squirrel. XD

Maybe Dad's right. Maybe a move woudl be easier if you were moving cuz of a new job.there might be more opportunities elsewhere.

it snowed this morning, but with all the snow that's here, it's hard to tell what we got, but I'm betting it couldn't have been more than a dusting. It's the new storms heading our way that has me concerned. T.T One I think is supposed to hit your way too!

Good luck at the doctors'! I hope things turn out okay for you! *more huggles*

Mine definitely doesn't. They tell people 'oh it doesn't snow here much' when we interview. They told ME that and I heard them tell other prospectives that too. Dudes, we're in OHIO. It snows. this isn't South Carolina.

May we BOTH find our muses, darn them anyhow.

I wish I could. There are so few jobs. Sigh.

thank you

It was worse today.

no not really. I think it's something FAR bigger than a mouse. I'm not poisoning a raccoon. It'll die in my vent then I'll really be fucked

*nods* yeah? We do get racoons here & they do get into attics, but the only rats I've seen here are in pet stores. XD My Aunty did see some in her backyard, when she was selling her house, but only cuz they had been digging up the sewers & replacing them with newer ones. (Or something like that. XD)

Yeah? Wow! And you'd think there would be too.

XD I hope it's not too bad for you! *huggles*

You're welcoem! :D

I saw a rat once here (outside) but definitely we have a lot of coons and opposums. I live in the middle of nowhere (I think you have my OH address, you can see this place on Google Earth).

Schools are shunting to adjuncts which sucks, or 9 month only contracts and you have to compete every year for a job. Or like the jerk governor in Wisconsin just did, they're taking money away from schools and forcing us to do more work with less people which means no time for the students

thanks

From: [identity profile] kiramaru7.livejournal.com
Yeah? I know you're rural. :D I've only seen a live possum once. It was in our backyard. Racoons are mostly roadkill here. XD Haven't seen any bunnies this year, which is sad. *likes them*

That SUCKS with 10 foot high capital letters! Seriously, those are our future doctors & lawyers... do we really want to skimp on their education? XD If they'd stop wasting money in government, they wouldn't have to take it away from places that need it. >.>

You're welcoem! :D

hahaha once? Really? HA! My brother had one as an outdoor pet once. He came every night and brother fed him. I haven't seen many bunnies either (I think the coyotes eat them here).

You are SO right there

It's all a matter of perspective. We lived in Buffalo for 4-1/2 years; it snows there a LOT. However, in a conversation I once had with a professor from the UP in Michigan, he thought the amount of snow in Buffalo "was handleable". Handleable??? The amount of snow we get on Long Island is "handleable". The amount of snow that falls in Southern New Jersey is "handleable". It's funny, really.

I will send vibes that you get a tenure-leading job in a not-very-snowy state. ::hugs::

(See icon to keep you warm --- and it's low sugar for diabetics.)

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
Yes it is a matter of perspective.

Oh no no, I don't WANT a non-snowy place. I want more snow. It's the only time of year I go outside. I'd go to Alaska if it wasn't so weird and conservative. Have given honest thought to moving to Canada or Scandinavia. It's the ice that can bugger off. But you have to take one with the other. Anything above 70 degrees literally physically makes me ill.

However I DO want the place to take care of the snow. In Wisconsin that was never an issue. It could snow a foot and the roads would be cleared. I MISS Rhinelander even if it was 20 below for about 5 weeks straight.

I will however take the cappucino. Thanks

Yeah. XD Cool! :D I don't know what happens to them when it gets very cold, but I hadn't seen too many when it was warmer like in the fall. I'd only seen a few during the summer.

Thanks. :D

Frankly, I'm with you on climate/weather. 70-79 is fine with me; once it hits 80, I'm like: how can I get out of here! I can't handle heat and humidity, alone or in combination.

I don't like the ice - like you - but the snow doesn't bother me.

You're welcome on the cappucino.

Yeah I can get up to 75 before my skin and stomach starts acting up. 80 is miserable for me.

I'm gonna get ice tomorrow just in time to ruin my trip to the orthopedic surgeon for my hip. Gah. I SO need a steroid injection too.

Oh jeez. We are DNA clones when it comes to weather/climate. :-)

Both my primary care phys and my orthoped. want to inject my knee with cortisone. I refuse; those injections zap the hell out of me. I'd rather take it slowly without the 'roids, thank you very much. :-)

yes indeed. I found 3 others of our kind here in Athens. I finally feel I'm not alone.

Someone else just said that to me. I'm SO much better with the roids than not
