I stayed outside for about forty minutes last night looking at the Persaids (and yes you can see how bad my state of mind was yesterday, I said comet when I meant meteorite!) It was clear. I saw more planes than is reasonable at 1 AM. I was swooped by night birds and bats while crickets sang. Then I heard herbivores huffing. Sounded like they were right there with me and not on the next hill over. then the cows started lowing. I thought 'uh-oh.' Then one donkey started then the other and then the dogs. A coyote must have been over there.

I saw plenty of smudgy maybe falling stars. I saw nearly a dozen of the really nice sparkly, streaky ones. It was only 55 out, so comfortable under my fuzzy blanket. If only that lounger was more padded. I'd have been out there for hours. Dad said my footprints were still in the dew come morning.

Mom and I went to the casino tonight.What a pain in the butt. We had to go the long way since she had to do something over that way only to have a road closed and had to go over hill and dale. Coming back the short way, the damn road was out there too with no warning before you head that way. ten miles later... head desk.

I didn't do well but had fun. I also had a buy one get one free dinner up to 20% so mom and I got the buffet. They have a nice buffet. And best of all the beer of the month is Not Your Father’s Root Beer. OMG I need a case of this. It tastes just like root beer down to the carbonation. Meanwhile it's 5.6% alcohol. SO. DAMN. GOOD.


Words written for the day 1,074 all on Blood Red Roulette. Yeah that big bang is so neglected.

Oh, I'm glad you found "Not your Father's Root Beer" - I kept meaning to recommend that one to you (my brother-in-law introduced it to me!).

I couldn't have seen a single meteor even if it were clear (it hasn't really been) - Phoenix is shit for seeing anything astrological. I was lucky I got to see Venus & Jupiter align.

It is pretty tasty root beer (and naturally there are douches on the beer tasting sites going 'this isn't beer' omg really?)

Aww that's too bad. That IS one perk of country living. I see stars.

Some year we're going to schedule a vacation during the Perseid and go up to the mountains or out to the desert where we can see stars. :)
