Not entirely invisible

cornerofmadnessYou've heard me complain that I feel invisible in the publishing world. Yesterday was a release day for a big name in the genre I'm writing in (such as that is I suppose). I always try to stop in and say a few things for the people on my flist's releases.
Tonight she PMed me to tell me that she notices that I'm always there to congratulate people and how supportive I am of others and that I'm a special person.
That made me feel so good. Especially since almost no one ever stops by my releases or says a word to me (which is why I was feeling invisible. For example, last release me and another person from the collective group with all the same friends had back to back releases. I stopped in to say congrats and saw over 50 others. I had exactly ONE, ELD who is always there to support me (thanks). So yeah easy to feel invisible.
I thanked her. I really needed that because in that same release thing, someone asked for favorite books so I responded and their response was 'you read MORE than romance?' Um YEAH. And the whole thread went dead after that. I always feel like such a thread killer.
Of course some of my thoughts today weren't so nice. I'm participating in my publisher's holiday card exchange. Nearly 100 of us did so they broke us up into two groups. I don't remember picking ecard, physical card or either (I apparently did and I picked either to make it easier). My plan was to send cards to people who interact with me and ecards to the rest. You would know the 'physical card only' people are all ones I don't know and almost all of them are in another country. You know, honestly if I knew this was an American based company I would have said ecard is fine. (like if I did this with Wayward Ink which is Australian I'd be like ecard!). Maybe they can't get ecards in some of these places. Trying to be generous and we're expected to send them to everyone on this list (I get the idea that when we did this last year not everyone did). You know what, I STILL think if I don't know you, you're getting an ecard. Happy Holidays. I dreamed about my grandmother's basement last night or the well of souls as I call it because it's creepy as fuck. I dreamed mom and I went down there to get something and there were two cats, one jaguar and one cougar, life size statues having sex. Just as I was about to ask why the hell Mom had bought these, one of them was real. The cougar started coming my way and I asked 'why was it having sex with a ceramic cat.' great last words there.
The other night I was at a con. I don't remember that much about it because it was so convoluted. I know that the con wasn't at a hotel but rather a huge mansion type of place, you know my usual rambling building dreams. I was sitting down because I was tired and was going to listen to any panel that was happening in that room because yeah, tired.
There was this old man next to me, chatting away. Then I realized it was George Takei in disguise. When he realized I had recognized him, he held up a finger to his lips so I didn't squee. I did tell him how much I loved him and had loved him since I was a little girl. He smiled and showed me what he had in a box, some books he had written and I said I would buy a bunch as gifts if he would autograph them for me and he started to cry he was so happy. Yeah I should be so lucky.
I WAS lucky enough today to be online talking on FB to a friend when I saw in the corner a FB message flash up, John Barrowman live. I clicked it and sure enough it was a live broadcast by John mostly talking about us here in the states sending him our info to prove to producers that the fans DO want to hear him in concert (no one will allow him to book a venue). He was answering questions and sadly I froze up. The other fans were idiots and he did basically say okay you're not asking me anything intelligent and signed off. Interesting exchange really.
