Survived Day One

With only minor hiccups. Still no internet at home but they called me so that's progress.

I think Kanda had a nervous breakdown or is really sick. I got up about an hour before I needed to to use the rest room. He came in for petting like usual then left. I was washing up when I heard him start crying. Kanda almost never cries. I called to him and cried louder and more so much so that I went to get my glasses. At that point he tried to get into the room, eyeing under the bed before I shut him out. then I thought maybe it was a mouse. I got my glasses and he was gone but he was still crying.

I found him hunched up between the sofa and the coffee table like he was terrified. I checked him out and he didn't want me to touch him. I looked outside and checked the doors etc. Nothing. Wondered briefly if there had been a mild earthquake or something but he quieted.

I went back and laid down to read a little but when I got up he was now hunched up in front of the TV. He started screaming as soon as he saw me (like he does when I'm going to catch him and box him for a trip). I picked him up which he was having none of. He was a tight ball. Nothing seemed injured but his toes were very pink and warm.

So sick? Nervous breakdown and wants to go back to PA? I have no idea. If he's not better tonight I'll get up early and see if the vet can squeeze him in.
