Mother's Drabbles
May. 8th, 2005 03:39 pmHappy Mother's day to all the mom's out there.
Wesley S 3 post Billy - Failures
Sometimes hatred warred with love in his heart for his mother. That he loved his mother, Wesley had no doubt but there was an underpinning of disappointment that bordered on much darker emotions. Why had she never protected him or herself from his father? Why did she accept blows as her due for being Roger’s wife? And why did she never stop her husband when he would turn his rage on his only son? Didn’t she understand every relationship he would have would be tainted by this? Didn’t she know he would doubt himself for the rest of his life?
Giles – anytime post getting to Sunnydale - Sorrows
There were many regrets in Giles life, the rift between him and his father was the one he regretted the most. Not so much that it cost him his father, while that was part of it, but it also destroyed his relationship with his mother. He had torn her between them and the guilt of it quietly ate him. He never had a chance to tell her that he was sorry. He never had a chance to make her proud of him and he knew she would be with how he handled Buffy. “Sorry, Mum, I love,” he whispered far too late.
Faith – S2 of Angel – Musings
Lying on her thin mattress, prison grey’s folding scratchily around her, Faith wonders if she would be here if she had had a different mother. If she had a mother who remembered her birthday and Christmas, would she have been so angry at the world? If she had a mother who didn’t drink and screw guys for rent money, could she have learned to love? If she had a mother who didn’t let her boyfriends mess with her little girl, would she have respect for her body? If her mother cared, would she have gotten an education? She’d never know.
Buffy – Post Chosen – Saying Goodbye
She didn’t even have a grave to cry beside any more. The giant ‘sinkhole’ was blocked off a mile before it could be reached and the road routed around what was left of Sunnydale. Buffy hiked in to stare at the lip of the crater she helped create and pictured her mother’s face. Joyce might not have been perfect and she had made mistakes with her daughter but Buffy knew she was one of the few people to love her deeply. She sat for hours thinking on the joys her mother brought into her life. “Bye Mom, love you.”
Connor – Post NFA - Longing
He thought about his mother often, wanting to know her. After the battle and Angel’s survival, Connor told him about seeing Darla. He wept as he told his father how his mother had tried to stop him, of what she tried to spare him and of how he hurt her. He begged Angel to tell him the good and the bad. He wanted to know more than Holtz’s skewed version. Connor wished for Darla to appear to him again and he knew, deep down, if he should ever truly need her again, she’d be there. She rode in his heart.
Darla – Post NFA – A Mother’s Pride
Darla watched him with heavy heart as he suffered with Jasmine. She held his soul to hers those brief moments he had been dead. She observed him reborn into his fake family, mourning the necessity of it. She was proud of how he defied his father and fought that terrible battle. His struggles to balance college with protecting the innocent brought joy to her heart.
Darla leaned over the playpen watching her grandson stack colorful rings with grim determination. He had his father’s eyes. He cooed as she brushed a hand over him as she faded away back to watching from afar.
