I'm trying to concentrate on the good

because it's way worse here than I've let on. Part of it is the end of year insanity (and I'm realizing how much my health issues slowed me down and how much I will fail to cover, how much I have failed the students).

So to the good, I have sent in my Weird West story Corpse Powder. Thanks to everyone who helped me. You are appreciated as always, especially evil_little_dog & kiramaru7 (who hasn't had a chance to read it all but the help with the Orthodox Jewish customs was invaluable!)

I hope people will like it because I'm now in that jittery OMG I've submitted something phase. Yes I was invited into this closed anthology but to me that doesn't guarantee they'll publish my story. What if the publisher decides Denardo, this story is crap? Until my contract arrives I'll be omg please love me! PLEASE!

I also sent in my Queer SF flash fic for the theme of flying. Mine was about a guy and his phoenix lover (who has wings like a scarlet macaw) as they try to do their version of the mile high club.

Speaking of phoenixes ELD did I mention I saw a license plate yesterday that read Fen 1010

For some reason tonight I thought, hey why not Portland for vacation? Well it doesn't seem to have the historical stuff I love but it does have garden after garden. It would be a beautiful place to visit.

Yeah... Prince's passing was a big shock! I had heard the bit about him being sick & making an emergency plane stop the other day while making dinner. But who really gives it much thought, since peeps get sick all the time. Plus It was on TMZ, a show I never watch, but the kitchen tv only gets that station, so... XD Anyways, someone at work mentioned he had passed this morning & it was all over social media. I missed the news, so I'll catch before I go to sleep tonight to see what they have to say.
