Another lazy day where I spent most of it hiding in the basement because it was cool. I'm taking mom and dad out for dinner tomorrow since neither dad nor I have the patience for going to a restaurant on father's day and I've been banned from the kitchen for making too much mess (and setting stoves on fire).

The most exciting thing to happen is when I dislocated my toe in the basement. (baby toe, right foot). I hobbled up and sat on the couch to look at it. I gave it a tug and pressed down, snapping it back into place. Dad watches 'getting fat and blue, is it okay?' 'yeah just had to relocate it.' 'Okay.' And we both go back to watching The Simpsons.

As for my writerly ways, it's scant and something I've done before. Some times I think I still write out of spite. Whenever I see a truly crappy book published (by a major publisher) I feel energized to write on, because I know someone I HAVE to get noticed some day. If the crap I just read got an agent, got an editor, got published, then surely my time will come.

I ask you, what would you think if you were reading a cozy mystery and the victim dies of peanut dust in his coffee (he's allergic) and the amateur sleuth owns the brand new coffee shop and there are NO peanut cookies in there but yet the cops think it's an accident? Because peanut dust is always in coffee, right? Then it goes on to where she meeets the chief of police whose only concern isn't the 'accidental' death but rather seeing the sleuth up with her son, the deputy on the case. Said son agrees to break into the man's office for her so she can poke around the crime scene.

Does any of this seem particularly believable? And yet here it is in my hands by way of a major publisher (it was one I got autographed at the Ohioana book fest so i can't even toss it out. I'd never have finished it otherwise). not only that, it's also book one of a series of at least three.

So that's my writerly ways. don't give up. Never give up.

I will go back and fix Blood red once I get a few other things out of the way.

Never ever give up.

And one last thing, I am SO sorry to see that Anton Yelchin was killed in a freak accident today. 2016 truly sucks it.
