I get to work to find out they didn't bother to act on my report that the sprinkler system in the lab's prep room was broken so for two days the thing spewed water and it's now everywhere including on our electro-shockers (have fun with that)

Forgot to do about 1001 things

Learn a near by chemical plant exploded. Not sure if anyone was hurt but shelters were set up (its just south of Point Pleasant)

Went to Jackson to get meds, to take back some flour in a recall and something i bought that very obviously had botulism in it (or other gas-forming bacteria. I just bought it sunday) and get the flea fogger at Wal Mart (because there are fleas in the carpet. fucking gross). So Kroger's and Wal-Mart are on opposite ends of town. I take back the stuff, get my meds, go to Wal Mart and get a few things I need but there is NO DAMN FOGGER.

So I have to go back to Kroger's (and decide to get my water there. Have I mentioned I'm on a boil alert) I'm so mad to have to go back across town I anger-buy this huge cement pumpkin decoration I've been eyeing because it made me feel better (it only weighs as much as a toddler or two).

Get home find out Grandma's house might be sold tonight. The people want to move in while Mom's on vacation. She refuses to do this because we still have stuff in the house. We need to get it into storage and she's not going to miss vacation for this. She didn't even want to sell it before vacation but Dad and Lucky Uncle were being total assholes about this.

So who wants to bet the perfect job goes up for bids in the area in the next month?

Because nothing ever, ever works out for me.

I don't know why I bother. I live an utter pointless life most days. The only thing I do right is help a student or two.

At least the dean called to tell me the donors were very impressed but wanted to know why I wasn't a doctor any more. I told her to tell them.I'm fine with that. I'd much rather they know I was injured rather than I did something inappropriate and lost my license.

George Takei just emailed me an invite to the 2018 Star Trek Cruise (mom too). We both want to go but we both are like...that's a ways away for old dudes... (hey 2016 has taken everyone from my childhood practically, it can not have George!)

It's sad Grandma's house is leaving the family. It's an emotional wrench, I know. But is that house really a good place for you? Do you need older-home upkeep issues and that many sets of stairs to negotiate/potentially fall down? I don't have a quarter of your health issues, but I've already ruled out houses with stairs if I should ever move from here. Not because I have mobility problems now, but because I'm not going to get any better-balanced or more flexible in the years to come. I've given up on the dream of having my own riding horse for the same reason--I could laugh off a fall 20 years ago, now it would put me in the hospital and possibly a wheelchair. If the dream job actually does come open, and you land it, trust that the house you need will come with it--a house where you'll be happy and safe and your friends won't worry about you from afar. And if you don't end up moving from Ohio before you hit retirement age--well, here's hoping there's something out there waiting for you that isn't a freaking trailer home or the ever-shakier Shaky Shack.

Well honestly the house could have been lived in on all one floor as grandma did for nearly 30 years. I can not afford a house in PA on a teacher's salary so now I've ruled out moving back.

Trailers. all I found here were fucking trailers. Granted SOME double wides are pretty damn nice. I'm eyeing one that started as a trailer and had stuff added to it that's near Lake Snowden for 110K It's been on sale almost 2/3rds of a year now. I could probably get it for less.
