cornerofmadnessI made a good choice as it turns out to go today instead of yesterday. I set my alarm so I could get down there for the opening. It was raining and about 15 degrees cooler. I didn't mind because that meant I got a fantastic parking spot (which was a huge concern) and when I asked the information booth where to find the Mountain Monsters Men who have a tv show, she said you're lucky you weren't here yesterday. It was a five hour wait for them.Okay, I didn't want to see them. My brother wanted their autograph so i hustled down there and while the line wasn't long it still took nearly 2 hours and 30$ for the poster. My brother OWES me big time. They were very nice though, nuts too. I did buy one of their Mothmen shirts and Trapper signed it for me. Now it's like how do I wear this??
By that time I had to pee very bad and decided also the over priced, completely signed poster HAD to go to the car because a) didn't want to fold it and b) they gave me no plastic bag of any time to protect it from rain. Luckily the only known portapottys were near my parking lot. I don't want to know what happened in the one and I feel sorry for whoever it was but there were HUGE piles of loose shit literally everywhere (it stank so bad that I did notice someone called in the portapotty people to come haul that off early). Yikes.
I snagged some wok-fired noodles for lunch and listened to a terrible big foot presentation. The brothers had NO idea how to do public speaking (I suggest they sit in on other speakers because damn...) he was reading it off computer paper and kept getting lost and apparently printed it too small to read so he was head down trying to make it out. I left once food was gone and forgot my umbrella there. I didn't notice that for about twenty minutes later.
I went into the Mason Jar antique shop but found nothing too exciting. I went down to the vendors near the mothman statue. This year they had more vendors all along the street but they were doing poorly. I hope they did better yesterday but they also had very little to offer. MOstly crap. Only the WV Ghostbuster team were doing good and I saw NO cosplayers that were supposed to be there other than Batman and Bigfoot who had been traveling together since Friday. Oh and one Man in Black who I see every year and another who held a door for me.
However when I got to the vendors, the ones I wanted to see Rosemary Guilley and Sherri Brake weren't there. Sherri was giving a talk and Rosemary wasn't there at all other than a sign with her name. I went back to Sherri's talk and she did a great job. I would love to go on one of her ghost hunts. I need to find one that's when I can travel. (She does one in Ireland that I would love to go on. We talked about it. She had another professor tell her what I did, we can't travel during the school year except spring break. She's looking into that).
I sat down where I left my umbrella (still there) and afterwards went into the art galley (loved the photos, hated the paintings, looks like I could have done it I just don't get some art).
Then back to the vendors where Rosemary had arrived. Bought too many books from too many ghost hunters, petted a Bermese Mountain Dog (owned by a coworker) then decided I had to pee bad again (and in the other portapotty that wasn't a shit covered abbatoir, there had been an inch of piss on the floor). I saw a new coffee shop and I like giving money to local business went in there and you could pee if you bought coffee. WHEE. The mothman brew wasn't as good as I had hoped but whatever.
I finally left at 3 and was totally broke since so many of the vendors couldn't get a signal for their credit card readers.

ETA - Day 18 - no words unless you count all the forms for my latest to- be published story.
